Former Trump Employees Claim 30 Years Of Covert Taping – Once Even Used In Lawsuit

Three former employees of Donald Trump claim to have personally witnessed him recording phone calls at Trump Tower in New York, and a fourth person said a recording of him was entered into evidence in a lawsuit – the Wall St. Journal reports.

Mr. Trump sometimes taped phone conversations with associates and others from his Trump Tower office in New York, according to three people who say they have direct knowledge of the recordings.

Mr. Trump had one or more recording devices that he used to tape his phone calls from his office, the three people said. All are former high-level employees who worked for Mr. Trump over a span of three decades. They said they saw devices in use recording phone calls.

One employee claims Trump recorded ‘virtually everything’

He recorded virtually everything in the office,” one former high-level Trump Organization employee said. “I know many of my conversations when I called him were recorded before and after I was working there.

The new claims come on the heels of a Friday Tweet from the President suggesting former FBI Director James Comey better check himself before he further wrecks himself.

Hours later, Comey announced he wouldn’t be testifying before a closed session of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

“It is our hope in the not-too-distant future that we can find a time for [Comey] to come in and talk to our Committee” -Vice Chairman Mark Werner (D-VA)

Thursday evening, the President made waves in an interview with NBC News’ Lester Holt when he said that Comey requested a dinner in which he asked to keep his job as FBI Director, and allegedly told the President that he wasn’t under investigation:

It is unclear whether Trump’s tweet the next day about ‘tapes’ was in reference to the dinner with Comey or other conversations with the former FBI director.

Trump’s attorney responds

According to the WSJ, Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen said he wasn’t aware of any such recording devices;

“In the decade that I worked for Mr. Trump, I have never seen a recording device attached to his phone, nor am I aware of any occasion where he taped a conversation.”

During a Friday briefing with the press, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer did not comment on whether or not the President had made recordings featuring the former FBI Director, or whether the President records conversations at the White House.

If true, is it legal?

Recording a conversation in New York or Washington isn’t illegal as long as at least one party knows it’s happening. Florida, where Trump spends a lot of time at his mar-a-lago resort, requires all parties to consent to being taped unless it’s in public.

Democrats flip out over tweet, Wikileaks makes a friendly offer

In response to Trump’s Friday morning tweet, congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) shot off a harshly worded letter to Trump’s attorney seeking answers about the suspected recording.

Trump’s past recordings

During a 1989 lawsuit against Trump’s Atlantic City casino, the owners of the Sands, Pratt Hotel Corp, sued the Trump organization for interfering with their attempts to buy a construction project near Trump Plaza Casino. In court, Trump’s legal team presented a recording Trump had made of a conversation between himself and the president of Pratt, William Weidner – in order to show that Weidner had lied on the stand.

In another incident during the 2016 presidential campaign a reporter for the WSJ sat down with Mr. Trump for an interview, informing him that he planned to tape – to which Trump replied he would be taping as well. Trump then slid a newspaper across his desk with a smartphone underneath, presumably recording.

Indeed, it appears that former FBI Director James Comey should watch what he says – perhaps explaining his refusal to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee next week.

Considering extemporaneous comments made by Mr. Trump, it is intriguing he would tape his conversations.

Some people say Trump’s strategy is to opportunistically deny what he has said, but hold everyone else accountable for what they have said.

Today’s audio and video technology leads to a conclusion this kind of evidence needs to be carefully examined and vetted as a true copy of what was recorded.

Here’s Nixon on tape discussing race and IQ with Senator Moynihan. “No one must ever know.”

Nixon wasn’t wrong of course. All those “science denying liberals” of course can’t handle the truth, despite all of the studies proving lower IQs among blacks, and proving it conclusively.

The science is settled when it comes to race. There are also only two genders. Deal with it.

Ikari- Yes the IQ science is fairly settled now and what Nixon was saying is that he knows about the science that he thinks it is true, but that no one must know about it- lol. You should listen to the tape it is hilarious.

Joshua- it’s not the IQ of blacks that is important, but that IQ is genetic and heritable and varies amoung groups. It explains why the West is so much more successful. Most behaviors have large genetic components to them, intelligence is just one amoung many. This is for you my friend – https://m.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/615/the-beginning-of-now

Not very interesting to me, sorry. I could get my fill on daily stormer if I were interested. Is this at all relevant to the article? Not at all. Would this information help me in any way, no. I try not to fill my head with pointless information. I can see that you personally are obsessed with this “iq” information though, as you constantly post about it. I personally find it odd, but I guess it makes you feel good or superior in some way. Whatever floats your pointless irrelevant boat I guess.

This link above is to “This American Life” by Ira Glass, which is a very famous, very liberal podcast- I’ve never actually been to the Stormer nor to POL either. Yeah, I do think the behavior and genetics issue is overlooked and we are making lots and lots of bad policy because of it, the IQ and genetics stuff is all mainstream science these days. We should be looking for a cure or a way to help instead of ignoring and pretending the problem doesn’t exist.

I still don’t see what this has to do with the article. Or what randomly bringing it up even matters. Im not really sure what a groups iq matters when they so freely waste it. It’s like a guy in prison to me. He could build a tattoo gun out of a toothpick and dental floss, yet couldn’t keep himself out of jail, or use his intellect for anything useful. To each their own though, I have no place to judge what anyone decides to focus so much energy on, or how they waste the amazing intellect they’ve convinced themselves of having. I personally find people that focus on this sort of stuff defective, pointless to society. We’d likely be better off if they just decided to keep their thoughts inside of their superior brain ….. Like I said though, who am I to judge. I’m just as irrelevant as you in the grand scheme of things, and so is my opinion.

Oh John, I only brought it up tangentially because the Nixon tape is a good example of a frank presidential conversation and then was responding to you guys. of course the truth matters from immigration to education we spend billions on policies that assume that all groups have the same potential. People should be taken as individuals for the most part, but at the same time the reason that Detroit or Baltimore or Mexico City are so much poorer and more dangerous the US in general has much to do with population genetics. Not only is massive diversity bad policy in and of itself, but so is a policy of importing low IQ populations which will permanently lower the potential of our country. I’m against wrecking our country this way. The truth is not always a comfortable thing, but it is usually necessary.

Here’s what the IQ thing has to do with this article… you are aware of it and are talking about it. Your are doing it because President Nixon tape recorded his conversations.

Trump implied he might be taping, and thus the Nixon story is relevant. Among other things, Nixon was talking about IQ and race. What is Trump talking about?

Nixon chose to record, and the recordings produced evidence of his actions. If Trump is recording, more will be known about his actions when they are heard.

Trump may be completely in the clear, innocent of wrongdoing, If tapes exist they may provide key evidence of it.

    Leading to two fair questions:

    1. If tapes exist, why would Trump voluntarily release them?
    2. If tapes exist, why would Trump not voluntarily release them?

Let’s wait for two sets of ‘tapes’ appear, one from Trump and one from the FBI so we can argue which set is fake and which set is genuine.
