Advance The Police State: Amazon Files Patent for Cop Shoulder Drone

This isn’t a terrible idea, equipping police officers with voice controlled drones.  The drone would assist cops on the beat by allowing them to assess a situation before putting themselves in harm’s way.

PC Mag is reporting that Amazon filed a patent for a police shoulder drone.

As Digital Trends reports, a patent has been awarded to Amazon for an “Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Assistant.” What the patent actually describes is a shoulder-mounted drone small enough to fit in the hand, which can be deployed for a range of purposes. The drone would be voice-activated and able to fly to a specific location in order to assess the situation before the officer potentially puts themselves in a dangerous position.

Perhaps one day we can arm cop drones with semi-automatics.  These advancements in the police state would make Dick Jones proud.

In all seriousness, a drone could be useful in recording officer interactions with civilians (extra Orwellian) and also for gathering preliminary intelligence before diving headlong into an ongoing situation.

Amazon has been working on drones for some time now, mostly intended for delivery and operating the Jeff Bezos mega distribution centers, and while they’re at it they might as well take the lead in the police state industry, which is pistol hot.

Bullish
