Famed Short Seller, Jim Chanos, is Bullish on $MCD, Short Hamburger Stocks

Big deal, right? He’s been short TSLA for a few years now, stacking up the losses. Now, all of a sudden, he’s figured out that McDonald’s is doing well. What sort of rock has this man’s head been under?

I love it when these elitist try to take positions in eatery stocks that they’ve never dared to step into in real life. Chanos sees McDonald’s and Shake Shake and only acknowledges the numbers — not the distinct differences between the fare.

Nevertheless, he’s letting the world know his biases, short the American hammed burger. As a vegan/pescatarian, I applaud his efforts.

Source: CNBC

The “problem in the burger space, where we happen to have a number of shorts, is that the 800-pound Big Mac got better. McDonald’s righted the ship and has now reinvested aggressively in its restaurants, in its franchisees and upping the game for everybody else,” he said. The burger market “is a shrinking pie. When the big guy begins to take more of the shrinking pie that leaves a lot less for everybody else.”

The investor did not specify which companies he is short. He did say his firm is not short McDonald’s nor Shake Shack, but “everybody else pretty much is fair game” to bet against in the burger industry.

He explains…

“Because you can only increase as a franchiser, your revenues by increasing units, increasing same-store sales for which you get royalties, or increasing your royalty rate. The restaurants are struggling so you can’t increase the royalty rate. The reason why they are struggling is that same-store sales are declining, which means therefore to meet Wall Street’s sometimes lofty goals you have to increase unit openings …. which exacerbates the [negative] trends.”

Vegan Life: Eating a Grotesquely Large Bagel with Margarine and Black Coffee

My vegan lifestyle continues, slowly but steadily deprecating my bodily form of its muscles and vitality.

At the moment, I am eating a bagel as big as my head, topped off with some non-GMO margarine (essentially plastic) and some chives. My coffee isn’t exactly black, but it is without sugar. Over at Trader Joe’s, I discovered a coconut creme that pleases me. I don’t use it for the flavor, but to reduce the temperature and give it a better texture (wink, wink).

Last night’s dinner consisted of a bowl of lentil soup and carrots. Maybe tonight I’ll eat a few potatoes and some salad.

Truth be told, I do eat some fish, so I am not exactly a vegan. I’m more of a vegetarian and pride myself on looking into a deep bowl filled with bacon and declaring out loud for the rest of my non-vegan household to hear: “I shall never again eat this disgusting form of meat.”

Maybe I’m bored. Or, maybe I don’t want to eat hammed burgers for the rest of my life — like the lot of you disgusting pigs.

Moving on, I bought a little AAOI today and have been listening to the sweet sounds of a FUCKING VACUUM in my ears for the past two hours. For some reason, when the cleaning ladies come to do their job here, they keep the FUCKING VACUUM on the whole time. They’re probably using it as a ploy to distract me as they steal my jewelry.

Small caps are ripping, as per IWM. This market wants higher.

Cryptocurrencies Kicked Down a Flight of Stairs, Again

This is a recurring them, nowadays. You’re all getting accustomed to wild gyrations in the cryptos. Since the dips are often bought, seeing prices recover, the cryptofag community is getting pavlov’d into a false sense of security.

This is the endgame for Bitcoin, Ethereum and their ilk.

Very soon, you’ll be visiting the tombstones of your favorite ICOs, buried under the bodies of those killed speculating for its success. Just like in the days of the dot bomb, the end will be swift, unrelenting, and with malice.

At the moment, BTC is lower by 6.9%, ETH -6.8% and Bitcoin Cash -10.8%.

Total market capitalization of the crypto market now stands at $128 billion.

Fly Buy: $AAOI

This is a potentially ruinous trade, the sort of trade that comes back to haunt you in your sleep. Quite frankly, I don’t give a fuck.

I want exposure to AWS — with leverage, as I am of the belief that AAOI is crushing the quarter and Amazon is stealing share with each passing day. The stock was recently at $70, after a frenetic ejaculation to the upside. Now that it has stabilized, I am going headlong into the pool — like a true caitiff.

TECH WRECK: Wall Street’s Favorites Fall Victim to Overzealous Sellers

I hate zelots. They’re always the first on line and the last to leave. Now we have total and complete assholes bogging down the tech sector, shorting it because they can — applying pressure to a seasonally susceptible sector that has gone haywire to the upside.

At the end of the day, all I really care about is whatever the fuck FIZZ and XIV are doing. By my last quotes, they’re doing just fine. I should not expect to enjoy any glamorous gains, however, having bought at the top of the range. To protect my downside, I’ll need to sell out of some of these fuckers quick and perhaps short something.

Or perhaps not, fucked face. Perhaps it is my manifest destiny to see this one out, to fully appreciate the grandeur of my genius. Maybe I’ll be believe in that and jog on into the sunset, naked, in tow with my goats.

Shorting the banks is a meaningless endeavor. Perhaps I should just short the god damned semiconductors — everyone’s favorite sector. Pardon my sardonic tone, as I’m currently plagued by a fucking cough that interrupts me every 10 seconds.

Here are today’s tech standouts, to the downside.

Stocks Swoon Lower; My Revenge Has Been Rebuffed

I’m feeling slightly better this morning, after taking a large amount of Nyquill last night before bed. I see stocks are lower, including my “revenge” stock, FEYE, which cost me millions back in 2014. I won’t let it slide much further and will likely need to take another L on this bastard son of a bitch.

The NASDAQ is lower by 34. Gold is getting demolished, off by 1.55%. Did you sign up yo OA’s boot camp? He nailed that trade.

Environmental firm, CCC, got bought out today for $21 — a 61% premium over yesterday’s close. Several biotech lottery tickets are up a bunch and ALB’s price target was raised at Jefferies, making all of the lithiumfags happy and content.

I sort of regret offering free Exodus trials last night, as I am manually doing it for all of you. I figured maybe 20-30 people would respond and I’d be able to do it at my leisure. Wrong. Over 100 hundred of you lurking bastards responded and I’ve been inundated with the trials. I’ll get to the balance of them soon, so be patient.

FREE EXODUS FOR ALL

I just got back from power washing the side of the house. The way I figured, since I was running a very high fever and felt death at my transom, it’d make sense to balance myself upon a ladder and spray 1,700 PSI at the side of the house — getting all of the spores and mold into my face and eyes.

After I did that, I ventured off inside and thought I’d commit a brave act of generosity before I died. I am granting FREE Exodus trials for a period of 2 or 3 days, or whenever I start feeling better again.

Because I don’t have any tech at the moment, you’ll just have to email the old school way and request an entrance login.

Email me at [email protected].

If I should perish, well then, you’d have Exodus for life — free of charge. Do as you like.

There’s No Way I Can Lose Here

Yellen made herself look like a fool today. For a brief moment, markets dropped and some of my positions took a turn lower. After a few minutes of introspective analysis, traders bought the fucking dip and the post Fed announcement had been erased.

Aside my quantitative trades, I am very much invested in a slew, mind you, of discretionary ideas.

Here’s what I know to be true.

XIV will be sold at $95 or better.

UAN was an is an emergency buy. The price target is undetermined at this time.

SMI cannot help but to trade higher.

PGTI needs more hurricanes.

FIZZ — feeling parched yet?

OLED is, without question, moving higher.

FEYE was supposed to be my revenge trade, but it seems to me that the revenge is theirs, yet again.

I have a few irons in the fire, aside from the above picks. Quite honestly, I am sweating like a fat sloppy hog now, likely due to whatever ailment I’ve been afflicted with.
