That may have been true if it happened 6 weeks ago but it is far to late to salvage this years corn crop. I’m looking at the corn around here and what was planted on decent well cared for ground has maybe 70% of normal standing on it. The corn planted on lighter ground and the organic stuff was toast by mid July. Those fields will do well to make even 50% of normal. This years crop is what it is right now and no amount of rain will save it.

Well, I got my date. Looks like Iran’s Supreme National Security council is saying that a Iran/G+5 phone meeting will be held Aug 31. In the meantime Iran meets with Nuke Watchdogs tomorrow about going to Iran to play “Myth Busters” on whether they are being bad. Austerity bodes well for the general economy in the long run, only according to the economic theory of Ludwig Von Miser, not in the real world. In order for the economy to be helped in the long run, it must survive in both the short run and the long run. Too much austerity and the fat lady will sing for the economy– although she will have become a skinny lady by that time.

I bought TZA and FAZ at noon on Tuesday, based on the market’s price behavior in the three days before, and the day after options expiration of June.
I sold at a nice profit at the close today (Thursday) because on Friday June 22 (the Friday after options expiration) the market opened up 65 points (DJII) and stayed there all day.
I will again go short at the close Friday Aug. 24, because the market had a big down-day on Monday June 25.
You may come out on top of that trade, but don’t think of it other than blind luck. What happened in June means fuck all for what’s going to happen this week.
