I can’t believe this happened.
Markets have been valuing FNGU stocks like a motherfucker. Bear witness to that 3x FANG ETF now trading at $180. ‘Tis the life of a market operator — trying to find the next Apple when the current Apple is the next Apple. Let that sink in.
The past two weeks and really for a month there has been vacillation amongst the sectors, winners and losers. Not everything is shooting higher in a convoy, as evidenced by the monthly returns below.
How do we manage from here? Stop picking stocks out of the scrabble box and start doing research again. I think we have enough clarity to realize who is going to make it and who isn’t by now. Revenues were down in the magnitude of 22% last quarter and things might spike a little now. The level of revenue output today, even with all of the new issues, matches 2012. In other words, there is a massive bleed and the #1 question that has yet to be answered is: when will things, if ever, get back to normal? And will the vaccine to come be compulsory?
