If you thought Bonald Drumpghhf was gonna pardon his way out of his acts of treason, think again. Politico reported tonight that special prosecutor Mueller is teaming with with NY’s AG Schneiderman to form Voltron — a robot designed to pressure Manafort into destroying Trump.
The angle here is the NY AG would menace Manafort with charges for crimes in NY that cannot be pardoned by Trump, since it’s on a state level. Chequemate or not?
In order for this scheme to pan out, a few things must occur first. Let’s go over the short list.
Manafort had to break laws that can be used against him to testify against Trump.
Also, Trump had to do something wrong.
Also, Manafort had to have knowledge of Trump’s crimes.
Also, Manafort would have to be able to prove Trump was working with Russians.
All that aside, the more pertinent question here is how did Politco get this story and why is Mueller leaking to the media? Trumpsters will downplay this as ‘another nothingburger’ that will end up bearing zero fruit. But I see this very differently. We have an acting special prosecutor who is trying his best to take down the President of the United States, including leaking to the media to ‘send a message’ to Trump that he cannot pardon his way out of this mess.
For Mueller to be this brazen, he must have something on Trump, or possess a high degree of confidence in being able to nail Trump via Manafort or one of his associates.
Just think about what’s taking place here. Dozens of lawyers are working in Trump’s AG office to take him down, leaking to leftist media tidbits that are designed to embolden anti-Trumpers and demoralize the President’s base.

Oh dear. Let’s consider the plausibility of:
Assertion 1. Trump never expected to win. Let’s see, a self made multi-billionaire, who has been successful at just about everything he has done, and has built his entire brand upon winning (ex. The Art of A Deal), ran for the office of President because he “never expected to win”.
Assertion 2. It’s always about money? A candidate finances his “never expected to win” campaign with $66 million* of his own money along with a campaign promise to donate his entire 4 year salary to charity, because “it’s always about money”.
Think about it TC; neither of assertions 1 nor 2 can be considered plausible. On the contrary, could it be that Trump actually wants do what’s right for the people of country? And that this is the reason the entire “pigs at the trough” political establishment is feverishly trying to tear him down?

Simple solution: FBI declares they have jurisdiction over Manafort’s crimes (assuming any exist). Easy to do–anything they could possibly be looking at undoubtedly crosses state (or even country) lines. Prosecute, convict, pardon. Double jeopardy rules prevent any state prosecution.
That is if, only if, this is not all a nothingburger to begin with. Given that Hillary’s campaign colluded with the Russians and the Ukraine much more than anything Trump’s camp did, very unlikely this is even a concern.
I am looking forward to the Podesta charges though. Imagine CNN having to spit out their coverage of that.
I don’t think Mueller’s remit is to remove Trump; it’s about co-opting him. Once that happens, Trump will be welcomed to stay as long as he likes. However, businessmen are quite adept at co-opting politicians, so Mueller may find the reverse more difficult than he expects.
Then there are the 2018 mid-terms; if new congressmen supporting Trump’s agenda arrive in abundance then Mueller’s end will be near, if he is still around by then.
Of greater interest to me is HR 477, introduced in late June, that I am tracking through Congress. It requests the appointment of a Special Counsel for Clinton, Lynch and Comey. So far it has garnered 26 sponsors and has been passed to two committees for adoption in the House:
