What people often don’t consider, is that localized flooding depends upon a number of factors that change over the years, such as city development patterns, changes to the watershed, changes to drainage systems and so on. (410000 acre-ft * 43560 ft^2/acre) / ( 100ft * 53 miles*5280ft/mile) = 638 ft
The reservoirs (which are both overflowing over the top as of last night) hold enough water to cover an area 53 miles long and 638 ft wide with 100 feet of water.
