Some fleeting thoughts on the Las Vegas event:
I’d like to thank Victoria for doing an outstanding job organizing this event. Without her, we probably would’ve been throwing mashed potatoes at one another. As a leader, it’s important to know when to delegate a task and when to do it yourself. When it comes to dealing with 10,000 moving parts and negotiating with gorillas, my temperament is ill suited for such an affair. Speaking of which, if and when we do it in NYC, it will be a much bigger event. Most of our readership resides in the Northeast corridors of the United States, denizens of intelligent life forms and men of distinguished means. Las Vegas is a reprehensible city, a curse fixed upon the heads of mankind which shall be smited by the Gods before the millennium is up. When done in NYC, all of the rubes will immediately and thoroughly be dispatched from the iBC parlours by men with white gloves.
I promise you that.
Back to the markets.
It appears my largest position, GPRO, announced a secondary today, which cock-blocked the shares. This is normal and to be expected. Don’t panic, jackasses, for GPRO is destined to melt the faces of every single short seller in the world, before the year is over.
Here are my other top positions and a few thoughts.
TRN: prepare for beast mode. Needs higher oil.
ANET: I have no idea why it’s tanking. Puzzled I am.
MU: Hedge fund hotel. Will trace NASDAQ.
BALT: I expected it to drop, but not this far. I will be averaging down soon.
AAPL: Whatever.
SLCA: From diamond to dogshit. At this point, I just want it to turn into a fucking piece of coal.
GILD: Ho-hum
BID: I own this for my kids. This is a 50 year hold. Never sell it.
BX: The modern day Goldman.
LITB: Sucking off BABA’s tit.
YELP: I will never sell it.
I am a bit shot right now, having just got back from Vegas. I will have a lot more to say tomorrow. Feel free to talk shit amongst yourselves and make believe that I give a shit about your poor taste in cars, food and women.
Back to work.

GPRO, YELP or TRN Dec options?
TRN Is crude dependent. I’d go with GPRO.
Why the hell are you awake at this time of night? It’s unbecoming of a gentleman.
NFLX too obvious as a buy?
If you wanted to buy, you should have bought with Cuban.
Welcome back. it was great meeting you in person in Vegas. I am adding to $BALT too. that sucker ought to see 6.50 soon.
Did you average down on $TRIP after earnings?
no
$27.73 is what is owed fly – my associate delivered the message – that is all…
You are a reprehensible man.
a New York event, Sinatra music softly in the background of the banquet hall. it just smells of class.

i look at the picture of the CEO in that article and it’s painful to think that guy is a multi-millionaire and running a billion dollar company simply by selling the surfer/action dude image.
I think it’s good that the CEO archetype is changing. Most of the boring old school types would piss themselves if they attempted to do the things a Woodman or Branson does. The new school is pursuing a lifestyle beyond living in a manor, collecting “stuff”.
i can agree on that. my generation is less about material items and more about “experiences.” they’re about traveling to europe, going on cruises, going on adventures, taking paint & wine classe, cooking classes, etc.
The Leader of Men has reentered the building. All feels right in the world. Back to work.
Cp’n, how dare yee insult me taste in women?!? Why me wife may be a bit seahag o’ sorts, n maybe she be nagging me, an perhaps a bit lazy, n maybe she…uh…er…never mind.
Arrrr.
ANET taking a beating damn.
Great work indeud by Victoria! It was nice to meet you, whoever you were.
NYC would be good.
Even better at Fly’s house in Jersey.
Just set up a tent in the yard and we can retire to the Fly house for eats and drinks.
Forgot to add a Happy B-Day to Grandpa Fly.
Thanks Caddy.

Any thoughts anyone?
Started an ANET position here; let’s see
How can you be long GPRO ahead of the lockup? http://www.bigskyinvestments.com/blog/certainty
Why not just buy after the new supply gets digested?
I spit on lockups
Just a quick note of thanks to Fly and OA for putting on this weekend’s festivities. While not my first choice for venue the weather was perfect for sipping Champagne on the balcony at the VIP. As everyone I talked with at the event was interesting, intelligent and polite, I can only assume that I am the lout who should endeavor to do better next time. The mix of ages and backgrounds made for a few lively conversations which I thoroughly enjoyed. Mr. Zombie was a real standout for best dressed having both printed his own “Fly Is God” IBC shirt, and wearing a tux to the party. OA, Ragin, and Raul were all as personable in real life as their internet personalities would lead you to believe. And let me also thank Victoria for putting this together. The event came together very well. Win or lose over the next year we can look forward to the next year’s event should there be one.
Thank you, Sir. It was a pleasure meeting you. Really enjoyed our conversations with The Equalizer as well as your sharp questions at the Conference. Looking very forward to our next meeting.
yes +1, reposting my comments from OA’s blog for the Fly : Can’t say enough about how great the conference was, I have pages of great notes and the “distillation” of good thinking at the conference hit a home run of either new knowledge or reinforcement of the good ideas around the site. Macke’s talk was the first time I’ve had clear vision on “tv personality” commentators. Great stuff. That said, he and Lindzon both maintained a message that even if you don’t agree or like some of the major commentators you shouldn’t be too quick to discount them, overall we should be taking in and distilling information from valuable sources, mentors, major movers. Finding and listening to mentors and people that live in the future or give out good information, not necessarily all traders, seemed like a conference theme if there was one, complimented perfectly by Jeff/OA’s sentiment analysis and trading psychology that is all about trading for the future and the price tomorrow, and the psychology of what causes us to mishandle the present. And of course, if one was paying attention, The Fly quietly running the whole thing made me think of a moment in World War Z – when a scientist asks Brad Pitt why he’s looking at the other guy that isn’t talking or obviously doing anything, and he says – “because he’s the one in charge.”
And of course, thanks Victoria for doing the conference org heavy lifting!
Indeud! Agreud and agreud.
.
… day $TRIP-er … one way ticket, yeah !
.
GPRO I believe this is not a short term offering but a preparation for lockup expiration dump. No actual shares will be sold till then. Shorts already got killed there in case you haven’t noticed the stock went from 40 to 98.47. To make money on gpro you will need to be right on the business and not rely on short interest.
YELP, I’m not sure sure long term. Personally I use foursquare and not yelp anymore, and lots of younger people do as well, just saying things can change in that space…
GILD MU look good. AAPL I don’t buy the story but looks good. TRN should work, will just have to be patient.
I hope this title doesn’t pertain to GPRO.
Hey Fly,
Do you think GOGO a good long-term buy here now that AT&T has decided to leave the business?
Look at YELP and AMZN gone wild.
Henderson’s where LV’s somebodies be.
A minority of 20th century Wallstreet retirees there too.
Too bad not your taste Fly (not surprised).
