Readers of IBC need to just buy and hold names, where they can make a 4-5X return on their money. The fly has given so many great stock picks over the years, but pikers on this site just prefer to stay degenerates. For all the zecco account traders out there it does not matter how much le fly is up or down, cause you guys need more like a 300-1000% return YoY. As long as O is at the helm, and Yellen continues free money policy, markets won’t tank. That doesn’t mean many big cap stocks won’t drop 50+%. There will be fluctuations, but in the end markets will at worst end up even.

IBM GOOG and GS will be a huge tell.
How is goog a tell? Ad revenue is the US economy now? And IBM was horribly overpriced as of late likely due to a run to old man stocks.
IBM is the ultimate financial engineering tell. GOOG is the who does not own it tell and GS is a health of the game tell. These three tank? We need more coke and the SPY is in trouble. Or CVX and XOM double and the SPY is fine.
They can stay flat. They just can not tank. The coke supply is all that matters.

Noni, that is a loaded question. I would say generally yes, but the correlation is becoming less and less. The huge rise the last few years has a lot more to do with QE than the economy.
J, why wouldn’t banks and hedge funds take that money and start shorting our indices?
Idea of QE is to push yields lower, forcing money into riskier assets, so shorting stocks with that money wouldnt make much sense

No, not rigged (unless you are tick trading) or controlled by a select few. But it can be and is influenced by the feds actions. An up market is basically in everyones best interest. I think we are in a few era where it is getting more and more challenging to time the general market. Basically have to be able to pick stocks. Thats the Flys forte from what ive seen (minus the last few weeks)
J, you should never try to time the market, come on. you might as well put a blindfold on, and throw darts at the board. If people have some patience, you will make money in our market.
That just isn’t true at all. I did it for 13 years, and very successfully. 2008 was my best year. But I do admit it hasn’t worked as well the last few years, so going forward, I guess I would advise people the same thing you are saying.
Market timing? I’m not a technical analyst at all, I read some books at the behest of a friend, but just never got into it, as my background is finance and accounting, so financials make sense to me, but overall, i feel it’s impossible to time the market. If I could, i wouldn’t be here talking to you, I’d be Barbados, throwing money around like Costanza after the great “Stock Tip” episode.
Can all our banks really short our market when our government(some didn’t need TARP money but were forced to take it for political purposes) gave them tax payer money? we just had a bear market, guys.

I have this friend who I consider the dumbest of the dumb money. He’s the kind of guy that pays best buy geek squad hundreds of dollars to plug in his brand new TV. And he has a lot of dumb money.
About a month ago he came to me and said he wanted to put some money in the market, wanted some advice. The last time he wanted to put money in the market was a couple months before the 2011 shenanigans.
