MELT UP IN THE WORKS

Futures are way the fuck higher this evening, on the backs of absolutely nothing. Men with money are snorting 8 balls of cocaine and buying S&P futures. My VXX and TZA hedges stand to get raped on the opening bell, by clowns dressed as gentlemen.

If there is one thing that is true, proven by yours truly over the past two weeks, it is this: you do not need to short stocks in order to make money in a bear market. My recent foray into equities netted 15-30% returns inside of 3 days. Just last week I was down 3%, now I am up 13%. My current strategy is a bit more aggressive, being 10% weighted in VXX with a side order of TZA and short EXH. But that’s just me living the high life, playing with profits.

Make no mistake, investing is an art. There are aspects that can be gamed via mathematical precision. However, for the most part, the seasoned pro fucks up the young punk 9 out of 10 bear markets. While in bull/retardo markets, the younger the better, since young people are too fucking stupid to know the difference between blue chips or red chips.

The OPEC nations are fearful of a Republican pro-Israel/Pro War in the White House. They would like to maintain the status quo anti-Israel President at the helm. It is my belief that they will tank oil prices over the next 6-8 months that will creat a relative “tax cut” on the middle class by halving the the current price of gasoline.

Go long consumer discretionary stocks and short oil & gas.

I have to respectfully disagree: an article came out in the WSJ today, stating, “There is no reason for Saudi Aramco to pursue 15 million barrels [of output capacity],” Saudi Arabian Oil Co. chief executive Khalid Al Falih said in an interview Saturday.”

If one can’t load the article from this link, search for it on news.google.com, the link should work from there:
      http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203388804576618772847536618.html?mod=googlenews_wsj

The Saudis would welcome a Republican White House so they would get support in case their own “Arab Spring” happens to pop up.

A strong Israel is the least of Saudi Arabia’s concerns.

To continue from the previous thread, believers can only take credit for courage, if they have struck out on their own and believe something different than their family, friends, church members etc. believe.

If you believe, politically or religiously, the same thing most other people around you believe, ok, that’s your right. But there’s nothing courageous whatsoever about it. Just crowd following behavior.

Fly, That meltup is not being seen in the Shanghai Comp tonight at all. The futures are up because we had some stupid buying of the eur/usd probably up to the 1.3500 range. What is also so amazing is that the Shanghai Copper Future are up, but not crazy up. Shanghai has been closed for the entire week, a week when we had a Stupid Copper Rally. Yet, China doesn’t care. This reminds me so much of Feb China New Years, no restocking when they came up. This is going to get so ugly when the Cable and Eur/USD realize that “promise” to fix the banks is just talk at this point and will be sold down like the Shanghai Comp is…BTW, I am REALLY surprised how bad the Shanghai Comp is tonight…

Old Salt,lol..South Park explains global finance, and I didn’t think the “fight club” bunch had a sense of humor…….Oh,And remember I was talking about China maybe hiking interest rates to control inflation. Nope, but it did cut prices on Gasoline by about a 3.5% drop and 3.9% for diesel..All this to curb inflation. China CPI on Friday, fwiw.

Seems you’re always in denial whenever there’s a rally. All these excuses and qualifications really don’t matter. The price action matters. Believe it or don’t believe it, condemn it or don’t condemn it, we make and lose money based on the price action. Period.

Mad Scientist, Long Term Picture says we are below the level we were at the start of the year. And the way China is not buying copper I would say this is not the bottom. Price Action can destroy many traders, as they say, most buy at the top and sell at the bottom.

The Long Term (and I mean really long term) charts say “bullish” for now, but it’ll likely be the pop before you drop.

So enjoy it while it lasts.

Once again, I’m Canadian and I have never met anyone in Canada that says “aboot”. I’ve never found “aboot” funny because i don’t get in. Maybe some people in remote areas say “aboot”, I don’t know…

Dude, you are nuts. Not only has every Canadian I’ve even met say “Aboot,” but they also say “hoose” when talking about mortgaged shelter.

Further, it’s not just Canuckistanians who say that, but the TideWater Virginians (Franklin, VA, border of the Outer Banks, etc.) who say “hoose” as well.

Some weird English (as in UK) derivation or something.

The only excuse you might have is if you are Quebecois.

We have been in like this price range thingy since Aug drop. I drew a couple lines on some graph paper – one on the top and one on the bottom.

I may just be a simple country doctor, but I buy when we get close to the bottom of line and sell when we get close to the top line.

If it goes outside those lines – I’ll have to go to Wal-Mart and get some new graph paper.
