Summer Wisdom

A great man once said “it’s gonna be a hot summer bitch.” I could not agree more.

As the summer heat whimsically melts people into puddles of sweat and the euro-trash abroad tries to manipulate their way out of another mess, “The Fly” is living the life of ten Kings combined, SHOMPing around all day, gallivanting (NO HOMO) throughout the northeast corridor of the United Steaks of America. Never query “The Fly” about his whereabouts, for he will never tell you. Take solace in knowing there is intelligent life forms out there, eating beluga caviar, drinking Aces champagne.

As for the market: we have further to go to the upside. Whenever we do hit OVERBOUGHT levels, it will likely mark the end of risk for Master Chef Fly, as the world teeters on comedic insolvency. The Chinese are building ghost cities, as the US blows up Libyan infrastructure, all contributing the GDP. None of these things are sustainable, unless of course we get together and blow each others buildings up.

With my money, I pray for a sincere pullback in WNR, so I can get long. And, I am not chasing the bull. I am content with a 15-16% gain in mid-July. I can take this 15-16% and turn it into 30% by December, when the markets are more liquid and predictable. In the meantime, I am positioned in names that should not disappoint during earnings and are fairly valued. I’m trying my best not to Riverbed myself.

I like this subtle nod to World War 3.

Thoughts on Travelzoo going into earnings? Does it goes bananas to the upside or is this 20pt run it? or does it go back to 60.

      Subcomandante Chinchilla!!

As the big fella said: slowly at first, and then all at once.

I just discovered that he also wrote this:

The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; the second is war. Both bring a temporary prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunists.

      And….

I now hereby nominate M. le Fly for the Nobel Prize in Internets Literature.

Please send your missives of encouragement to the Academy

define “broke”? no cash? yes. Cash is based on credit if credit gets wiped out no one has any to pay debts. Although cash rich companies with no debt are golden provided they can get to the bank in time.
If you mean “hyperinflation, no employment, minimal production, famine and starvation… yes. Even in deflation same result could happen.

If you mean broke as in “no assets”…. LOL, not unless we all basically die or there’s a EMP that wipes out technology. If you mean purchasing power than not really. If all the rich people that actually owned the businesses that sell not only the materials to other businesses but the stuff to consumer gave away all their money, people would spend it until people couldn’t afford it and were in debt with no way to pay for it and it would take less than 2 years for them to get it all back. It’s not really wealth that is destroyed it just changes hands. Even if deflation then those with lots of cash and no debt would be king.

Very long term (multiple decades) the real question is whether we innovate until we can do more and more with less and less, or will we fail to do so and run out of materials that are easy to access and enter in a dark age.

Regarding other matters, I wonder if Mr. Fly had anything to do with this ugly incident. Perhaps a little road rage as a result of a recent setback in trading GSVC ?

Will the market do the obvious thing and break out of the range that every trader in the world could see?

Or will it cause the most pain and drop back to the 200-day?

Given the level of the PPT it is hard to see a sustainable breakout from here.
