I would venture to say with a stock like DPTR you can move the price by causing enough people to go on a buying spree. Not going to call it manipulation but just saying…. price shot up right after your post.

I never though I would be obliged to speak out against you Fly, but Delta Petroleum the most incompetent, dipshit loser flunkies of the domestic independent oil and gas scene. Seriously, I work in the oil and gas business and they are a joke.
Don’t get me started on all the water they found up in Washington state instead of gas… but I see their middle and upper middle management every year at NAPE and they are just clowns. Let me give you an example of their stupidity: 2008 they buy Haynesville acreage from another company (when you buy promoted acreage like that it is not cheap, so they paid top dollar at the highs). What is worse is the LOCATION they bought it NW Shelby and SE Rusk County Texas. Anybody like myself who was on the ground flipping deals could have fucking told you that was the LEAST ATTRACTIVE part of the whole fucking play. There was plenty of acreage to pick up elsewhere… these leases expired worthless. These are the kind of moves that these fuckers pull on a quarterly basis. If it wasn’t for a few of their legacy assets, they would have been long BK by not. For the love of God and all that is holy, do not support these guys. Maybe they up a little here. But anybody with any knowledge of the oil and gas industry knows these assholes have no fucking oil reserves. They are not an oil company. They do not have any real valuable Bakken or even speculative Niobrara acreage. The fact that they broke out is just another example of stupid NYC Wall Street bullshit — it will end very badly. You can add others like NOG to this list. The company is run by two 30’s landmen with no technical or geological background. They did well because they started buying the Bakken when it was just getting started, and their acreage became more valuable. The difference with NOG is that they actually have quality acreage, and some bigger company might just buy them out. If you read their filings you will see that the two founders basically will make the motherlode if the company is bought. But let me tell you something: if and when crude ever moves back to 60 or so (and because I’m in the business I hope to God it doesn’t) but if it does. It will be all over but the cryin’ for those mother F’s. It will be under $10.
