Greenland’s Kvanefield will surpass China’s Baiyunebo rare earth mine as the largest in the world and BHP will pursue it’s owner (GDLNF) with an unsolicited offer that falls on deft ears and expires with a whimper as all of BHP’s recent takeover bids have ….

Why should “Obamacare” be struck down by the Supreme Court? You are not REQUIRED
to buy health insurance. You simply don’t get a tax BREAK if you are uninsured.

Woodshedder says:

The new law forces you to have insurance, or you pay a penalty. Therefore, you are required to buy healthcare insurance. I believe the Supreme Court will strike this down as an overreach of the interstate commerce clause- 5 to 4.

If you don’t buy the health insurance after Obama-care, and you then get a horrible disease, can you still go ahead and later buy health insurance with a new pre-existing condition?

My Predictions for 2011:
Shanghai and Hong Kong markets are in constant decline…civil unrest on the mainland.
Thus commodities continue to fall…
As panic ensues, the dollar continues to rise, the Euro collapses and the Euro-nation dissolves.
Thus US inflation declines and the bond market rallies pushing 30-year yields to 3.5% as QE3 is focused on the long bond, driving up the price of real estate and homebuilding stocks.
US Unemployment rate drops to 7% as everyone becomes international financial advisors – advising the rest of the world how to solve your own country’s problems.
The best stock markets are the US and Japan, each up over 50%, as P/E multiples expand.
The worst stock markets are China, Brazil, Austrailia and India.
The New Orlean Saints repeat to win the Super Bowl, and the Washington Nationals win the World Series.
Ben Bernanke becomes a Saint – the first Jewish Saint by The Vatican for his recognition in saving the world!
Lastly, Osama bin Laden dies from gonorrhea.

Fly,

Any thoughts on FTK’s surge today? The late dump makes me think it was nothing more than a function of the plug on CNBC.

I hope we stay healthy, reasonably happy and avoid personal financial doom.
Let’s enjoy the ride as much as our vision of the destination.

Since I had most accurate predictions for 2010:

“Here are my predictions since you asked:)

The only thing I am certain of is that the dollar will catch offguard everyone and rally higher than most expect, mu guess, at least to .85.

The rest are so unpredictable is not even worth trying. If $ rallies above .84-85, the markets will tank. My guess is that the market ends unchanged YE with 20% drop in the first quarter and later rebound. The states, banks and CRE will need more bailouts and will get it and not kill the market. We will never see the 09 lows again. action of the FED and Treasury has convinced us that they will fo anything in their power to not allow this. They will prevail. TNX will stay between 3 and 4% regardless of new QE and new bailouts, or because of that. No inflation showing in ‘10. Deflationary undertones will still prevail. Taxes will increase very little if any at all in ‘10.
Gold at 930 is a dream buy longer term, although it could dip as low as $750.
Black swan event very likely via one of the large euro region defaults, think PIGS or even larger in a way of austria or even england if the fire from pigs catches on.

Happy New Year to all”

I will give you another one for 2011:

Baring Hong Kong RE collapse or Spain default, I think that the market ends up 5% for the year. There will be a selloff in second half of Jan to the tune of 5%…Market rallies 10% from there until May…sells off to the tune of 5% for the next several months and than rallies another 5% in the Oct-Nov-Dec months. In other words, one of the most boring markets you’ve seen in a long time.
Le Fly’s post will trickle down to 2-3 per week as the market will be so boring/uneventful and he realizes that he is good enough at this game, hence, spends more time with his family! Hint…
Oil will top at 105 and will dip as low as $74.
Gold will see mid $1500 and low $1200
TNX will trade the same as ’10…2.5-3.5%
The mighty $ will trade as low as .76 and top @ .86. The .76 will be the all time low!
The FED won’t go to QE3 but they will find back door ways of infusing the same amount of cash nevertheless, preventing a RE collapse
Couple of US states and couple of munis will default and won’t have a lasting effect.
Financials, as much as this pains me, will have a decent year
RE will dip another 5% but it won’t be eventful
The Fascist party will share the blame of “no change” helping the O admin.

The excitement will be pushed for 2011 when shitload of things will materialize. Euro-zone, China-including Brazil will get fucked as demand doesn’t appear due to prolonged. Japan will kick the can down the road in 2010 but will finally (after 20 years) have a SECOND DIP. More on this a year from now.

Maby most of youse will be served better by spending time doing things with your families as overwhelming majority of you won’t make any money. Make this your NY resolution!

Happy, healthy and prosperous new year to ALL.

@ Steve you stupid wasp, if a trader gets something wrong, to borrow a colourful aphorism from our friend taleb: “Learn to fail with pride — and do so fast and cleanly. Maximise trial and error — by mastering the error part.”

Nobody can be 100% correct. Now seeing as you did not know this we can assume you will be put to the blade of the reverse horseman of certain death, as you will love your idea, and end up in the gutter with it!

fellas fellas fellas…
a new tading instrument will be put forward as the U.S. dollar remains…well…less and less ” stable”.
The alternative currency will be ‘commodity’ based backed by 14 of the G20 Nations and used strictly as an International Trading Instrument…regardless of what “Timmy” thinks

Cheer up…Wal-Mart will introduce gold shaving weighers at each register by mid February

All good pedictions (except for the Superbowl prediction), but I think the theme of 2011 will be the return of “goldie locks” in the US markets. A statue of Ben Bernanke will be erected at all major stock exchanges around the globe which Erin Burnette will report live from throughout the year. Barons will write cover stories referring to “THE NEW BULLMARKET”. Everyone will eat bacon cheeseburgers and be merry.

That actually sounds likely. If Ben keeps pumping until RE goes up and stocks keep going up, he will be a world hero until it crashes again, which could be an entire 3 or 4 years.
