“Remember the NDAA? Yeah, for a variety of reasons that bill got a lot of attention last year — mostly focused on the question of detainment of terrorists. But there are some other nuggets in the bill, including one tidbit about “military activities in cyberspace.” The existing version of the NDAA does grant the Defense Department the ability to conduct such military activities, but only “upon direction by the President” and if the purpose is to “defend our Nation, Allies and interests,” subject to existing laws. ”

Do they not know how the internet works? You can shut down a server or two if there’s an attack, not the entire internet. Or are they just concerned after Arab spring?
????
If there’s a virus or something that threatens national security you don’t need a kill switch for the entire internet, you can merely shut off the server and anyone not using that server is still safe. A virus or trojan does not threaten the entire internet and can be quarantined by shutting off a server or two. To think you need the entire internet shut off via a kill switch is just asinine.
So either they don’t know how the internet works, or they are concerned about a social media organized uprising (like Arab Spring was).
