DIPPING INTO THE WALLET FOR RETAILERS

I’m seeing retail names flooding my screen here mid-day.

Engulfing patterns are showing up in the following stocks:

$EXPR

$KSS

$COH

$FINL

$GPS

$AEO

$ANF

$FIVE

$URBN

Something to keep an eye on. Fast market moves like this usually spark rotation among sectors/groups. This is the one that stands out the most this morning.

My WMT buy from early December stressing strong. Missed a fill in UA as I moved my buy up to 77.50.

$BAC coming back to where I’d want to initiate a long term position.

Interested in the idea of $URBN, but I feel like I want to wait until they embarrass themselves a few times trying to absorb the new restaurant group. It’s a great series of restaurants so if they have half a clue they should be fine in the end, but I imagine it will be bumpy early.

    And thankful for $LULU today.

Missed my 78.15 buy on UA. Would have been a spectacular time to buy more of this winner. Did take LABU for a quick gamble at 18.65.

What would be your typical holding time frame for something like this in your retirement account? Do you have a price target in mind; is your style trading, investing, or both in that account? I’m going to be putting up a post soon about retirement account investing/trading and what to get a sense of what iBC members tend to do. Thanks lp.

For what it’s worth, I swing trade in my retirement account, usually trying to make use of commission free ETFs. Most of the big brokers, including the one that my company uses for our 401(k) (Schwab), has commission-free ETFs you can use for this purpose.

@gapfiller, all feedback, strategies and thoughts (as long as contributory and not trollish) are always valuable. Thanks for your comment.

      I’d buy a dip at 9:40am if I hadn’t bought at 10am & 11am this morning.

The changes in generational priorities and values…

What’s hard for me to wrap my mind around is the consumer acceptance for crappy product quality and service. They will pay up for bling and aspirational items. Everything else, no.

For consumer items the mid-level price point is gone. You can buy very cheap Walmart quality or high end quality.

Sorry about the mini-rant. Take care.

I recommend taking a stab at oil around 35.25 based on implied volatility.

Having said that I am short, but will likely cover more at that level.

It’s getting painful out there, better sell before the reverse split.

Stop screwing around with oil. Better odds with Three Card Monte.

    Look at MDVN and ZOES
