Falling for the Trade War News Is a Rookie Move

I have to head out now, still entertaining my mother who is here for a duration of 3 weeks. I bought a slew of stocks today, mostly in biotech — without reservations or thirst to hedge, mainly because I do not believe Americans should sell short her stocks ahead of National Festival. Frankly, and this goes without saying, it is unpatriotic, seditious, and the acts of barbarous men.

I will not lower my standards for the sake of profit. My motives are clear, to make money at all times — but I do draw a line in the sand barreling into Turkey and cranned berry sauce day. Only the mind of a child would surmise it to be a ‘good idea’ to sell short now. Let it be noted, “The Fly” is the adult in the room.

Stocks are rebounding sharply after FAKE NEWS reports of another ‘snag’ in the US-China trade deal negotiations. As such, I expect a full recovery, and so much more.

The fuck out of here with this news flow already. We win the war, we lose the war — over and over again until our brains are mush and we believe nothing on the teevee.

Stocks are almost down 200 and I don’t give a fuck. I’m 35% cash and all of my stocks are up. I cannot and will not cede to the weakness inherent in the hearts of traders. We are long overdue a vicious sell off. But will such a tragedy befall us ahead of National Festival Day? I think not.

Nevertheless, a good mind is a strong one and a strong one knows it’s best to have cash reserves during periods of uncertainty, as is the case now — judging from all of the headlines — Trump to the stump and China is filled with liars.

Aside from the provincial bounce in crude stocks today, there’s nothing else working except Biotech. Truthfully, that was a lie — there are other sectors worth perusing, namely SAAS, but it wouldn’t make for a strong headline. But it is true, biotechs are leading the fray, in spite of an overall weak market.

So do you chase into the melee and hope to make it out okay?

Yes, absolutely.

However, bear in mind there are insidious forces pushing these stocks higher. Typically only a few dozen trade with any reasonable volume; but now the whole sector is liquid. By the book, you should sell now if you’ve been holding onto them. If you’re buying now, understand that you are a bag holder and might end up in a vapor-lock trap, where only pikes could escape. When this sector stops rallying, the volume would have dried up and you will be CANG-banged with merciless sentimentalities.

I sold ALNY for a +5.2% gain. My best loss was taking PDD out yesterday for a 5% loss. Seeing it down 22% today makes my heart warm and reminds me to never trade into earning, lest I am privy to insider info.

Big fucking move out of KRTX the past two days. Basically the stock 10x and even went higher after a secondary offering was announced. Surreal shit. It all has the feel of end of cycle garbagio high stakes gambling from the last two guys at the table. Nevertheless, I am one of those guys and partook in a little chicanery into the close.

We’re living in a post-modernist world, where men are women and women are men. No one knows what the fuck is going on, other than the all tranny hockey team is really strong and beats the shit out of the all girls. It should be noted here regularly that I am a firm believer in humanity, the good in people will always shine through. When I had hard times, there were friends and family who helped me — sometimes even strangers. Deep down we all know something is wrong, but we go along for the ride — because the calm equanimity is just fine and our lives are relatively acceptable.

Depression is running rampant amongst the younger generations because they’re getting fucking zapped with different algorithms, which are designed to confuse and weaken the backbone. Steel yourselves from this men and understand that you are the backbone and can never break, else everything will collapse. Trading is fun to me, but living is what I enjoy and I try to do it well. I was noticing too many alcoholic beverages around me, so I stopped drinking entirely. I said I’ll sustain from booze thru summer, but maybe longer. I don’t need it. I don’t need anything but air, food, and warmth.

My whole life I’ve been searching for truth, clarity in business, relationships, my role in this big mess. The truth is easier to find than you think. Do the right thing, not the thing you want to do because it feels good. If you’re living a life absent from regret then you’re living a good life. This will transfer over into ever facet of your life — even trading.

The House of Said recently cancelled the London leg of the Saudi Aramco IPO roadshow. If they come public, without question, it will gobble up all available investable dollars and cast away all of the ancillary names to hell. We’ve seen this occur in the tech space over and over again — from FB to SNAP and many others. It should be noted, this is the ebb portion of the oil sector, based upon seasonal trends. In other words, historically speaking, this is a terrible time to buy oil stocks.

Does this mean your oil stocks will trade lower?

Yes, that is precisely what it means, if using historical norms. If you make money in oil stocks over the next month, consider yourself to be fortunate. The sector is now under fire, off by 13% the past two weeks, all the while stocks are hitting record highs. The rationale is scattered brained, so why bother?

The emphasis is on SAAS and biotech today, perhaps something else tomorrow.

But one thing is clear to me, stocks are strong at the same time bond yields are weakening — a relationship oddity. My shotgun to the head guess is for lower stock prices in the interim, followed by a spike in bonds and rally in gold, REITs and Utes.

I had bought and sold KRTX for a quick loss yesterday. I had been up 13% before I acquiesced and threw in the towel. After the market closed, they, of course, announced a secondary. The stock got its head cracked in half this morning, down greater than $10 — before reversing course and absolutely rampaging higher.

I’ve seen these banana runs before. I was also long DRNA yesterday and held it — presently higher by more than 10%. There are a slew, mind you, of biotechs up double digits today. Here is one of my Exodus screens that isolates heavy volume movers in the space.

All that aside, and I might still trade it, I am raising cash. I sold most of my trading positions and have cash of ~65% now — still long some odds and ends — especially miners. But the gist of this move is to renew the trading account, for it got bogged down in too many stocks and too many of them were stale. I’m not running a best ideas portfolio, so if the stocks aren’t relevant today — they shouldn’t be in the account.

You simply cannot sell short stocks into Turkey Day. However, you can take a position in high yielding utilities, REITs, and gold in order to “just in case” your way towards victory.

Markets struggled all day. The highlight of my day was trading KRTX unsuccessfully. I had a 13% gain dissipate into a small loss. Stubbornly, I wanted the magical number $100 to be realized — and was quickly corrected when the stocks shrunk and the sellers came in with their orders. I rather enjoyed the excursion and would of course do it again. These runners are merely gambits that can swing either way. The key is to not let them turn into investments. Look at that NXTC — ran good and hard and now is half the value. Some of the runners can sustain; it’s all based upon the news item that is pushing it higher in the first place.

Mixed bag for me — especially with my Quant shedding 50bps. I look forward to more fun times tomorrow.

In this case, I must reiterate my interest in LK, Luckin’ Coffee, due to the speed in which the shares are rising now. I’ve talked about this before and I will talk about it again. They’re #2 in all of China in pouring the black down into the throats of the Chinese citizenry. Up until recently, when western garbage culture infected theirs like a malignant tumor, they persisted off green tea and worked hard in the rice paddies, providing a large country with enough food to last thru winter. Now since all of the farmers moved into the “big city” and become billionaires, those morons don’t have enough food and have subsequently resorted to eating plastic rice and/or feral animals. These new city slickers are all trading stocks, wearing shiny suits, and driving fast cars. Gone are the days of the bicycle with the basket filled with soy in the front. The modern Chinese wants luxury items and, believe it or not, emulate the degenerate American — courtesy of Hollywood and their propaganda.

To this end, the green tea sojourns and rituals have all but ended and replacing it is The Black. Chinese people have taken to the bean with rapid qualities and this addiction has permitted Starbucks to spread their brand of disgusting coffee with cancerous characteristics. But thanks to the trade war and anti-American fervor throughout the streets of Beijing, the Chinese city slicker is opting for the domestic brand these days — Luckin’ Coffee.

How this coffee war ends is anyone’s guess. The people at Starbucks are devilish and can trick anyone into giving them money in exchange for their sub-par bean. However, if you’re looking to invest in an underdog with patriotic qualities surrounding the brand via ‘DEATH TO AMERICA AND THEIR FUCKING TRADE WAR STIGMA’, LK is the stock for you.
