I sold it all but one stock — 95% cash now and I am down 150bps for the session. Ask me if I care.
I don’t know or care if the market is about to dip or soar. The fact of the matter is, I don’t want to trade today — even though the allure of placing a winning bet is somewhat desirable. I could, for example, win big and that win might make me feeeeeeeel better about myself. Or, judging by today’s ledger, I could increase my losses and darken an already dour mood.
As we speed towards a locked down Xmas and into the New Year’s, I find solace in knowing my face will soon be paralyzed from the COVID vaccine. The expression I will attempt to make just before it freeze frames forever is one of extreme jubilation, for being inoculated from the scourge known as COVID.
I know someone who got COVID and ran a fever up to 99.5 degrees. Imagine having to endure…
My Uncle, as an aside, did die from COVID last year — but he was old and I didn’t really know him too well. The times we met were meaningless, as his mental faculties weren’t all there. When my father was alive, he’d always tell us how terrified he was of his brother, “the crazy one.”
Into the closing hours, I will be tempted, but I shall resist, to trade any more stocks today.

Yes, I had a crazy Uncle too.
Uncle Leo (as in Seinfeld’s Uncle Leo) was the original Overstock before Overstock or the internet existed.
He bought liquidated clothing inventory from Bankrupt companies.
His “brick and mortar” was a huge ugly Cadillac (Coupe DeVille, I think) and he would drive from Miami Beach to our house in Miami.
He was a BS artist always promising my Brother and I a fancy trip, usually around the world.
I recall when he let me have a “Nehru Jacket” and a green polyester Leisure Suit (the kind Travolta wore in Saturday Night Fever).
He would pop open his trunk and tell me to pick something out in my size.
That’s a fairly pathetic story, but thanks for sharing.
Short Russell here.
BITW at $135.51. Intraday NAV is $18.48.
