Stocks are higher by 200+ Dow points today because XIV has been killed. We’re up 800 over the past two days because you didn’t read the prospectus. Haven’t seen anyone talking about the possibility that the loss some of the rocket fuel, namely all the vol sellers and the vehicles to do it with, won’t be a good thing for levitation of markets. There has been a huge correlation of S&P spikes, v-rallies, and levitation with the previously upward trajectory of the reverse volatility instruments and traders. I don’t see how removing them from the field helps goose the index for anything more than a single relief/reflect rally (even if that rally might achieve new highs or not).
Not just that but I’m thinking Monday’s debacle might have put a floor on the VIX for now; it’s not done unwinding.
That and I keep hearing that risk parity funds have a lot deleveraging to do still. Would have discounted that as conspiracy nonsense like I did with all the talk about XIV termination events before it happened, now I take this type of info quite a bit more seriously. At least in terms of managing risk.

Be careful with eating too much fish. Tony Robbins has talked about his heavy metal poisoning woes from doing that. He eventually used some kind of pressure chamber treatment to generate stem cells to help cure it. Sounds like nasty stuff. I like fish but would not make it my only protein source.
