Christmas was just fine and we spent the evening at the movies, watching Jumanji. I highly recommend seeing it with the family. Now thru the New Year’s we should see a rally in crypto currencies of monumental proportions, but the real money to be made in crypto proxy stocks. If we’re following the dot com playbook and this is 1999, then expect markets to do well during the first half of 2018 — but perhaps pull back severely in January.
In January of 2000, the Nasdaq slid by 6.8% and rose by an outrageous 19% in February. I don’t expect to see those type of numbers posted here, thanks to the law of large numbers, but sentiment might follow a similar path. Everything is bullish now, so we could certainly see some profit taking in early 2018, especially from those who are delaying it now, in an effort to avoid paying capital gains taxes.
Consider the last two January’s following a big year for markets: 2013, 2009. The Nasdaq rose by 43% in 2009 and 38% in 2013, and fell in the following January by 7.6% and 1.5%, respectively.
But we are to buy the dips, with full vigor and tenacity.
My investment strategy will of course center around my quant, but for my personal account crypto proxies. I haven’t had this fun trading stocks since Hurricane Katrina wiped out Louisiana, providing oil stock traders with surreal returns. I’d give you my picks for tomorrow’s trade; but giving them to you would be like throwing them away.
