It’s about time, God damn it. I’ve been dropping $3k+ per month at Whole Foods for the better part of the past decade — buying ‘organic’ foods because MUH chemicals and MUH Monsanto are evil motherfuckers. Now that I’m a genteel vegan with a walking cane, my bills have dropped by orders of magnitude because MUH meat is fucking expensive as shit.
Now that Bezos is in charge of Whole Foods, he’s going to destroy the entire grocery business — just like he did to the mall. I know, you don’t think he can do it; but watch him.
Bloomberg did some price checks at the 57th st Whole Foods in Manhattan. This is what they found.
Organic Fuji apples: $1.99 a pound, down from $3.49.
Organic avocados: $1.99 a pound, down from $2.79.
Organic rotisseries chicken: $9.99 each, down from $13.99.
Bananas: 49 cents per round, down from 79 cents.
Wait, there’s more.

Responsibly-Farmed Tilapia $11.99 per pound $7.99 -33%
Organic Large Brown Eggs $4.29 per dozen $3.99 -7%

Shares of KR are little changed today, but down 36% for the year. It took many years for Amazon to destroy the mall. I suspect this business will be easier for Amazon to infiltrate, having the head start in acquiring Whole Foods. Once normies understand that shopping at Kroger is now retarded, since Amazon dropped all of the prices at Whole Foods, I expect to see shares of KR to tumble and then tumble some more.
Oh yeah, they’re selling Amazon Echo’s there now too.
Not to sound like a complete cocksucker, all of these prices are great but they are still higher than my local grocery store and Trader Joe’s.
Significantly higher. Enough so to make a meaningful difference for “normie” families. WTF is a “normie” anyway, Fly. Sounds racialist.
Normies are regular people, walking around, making ends meet without a care in the world — aside from bills and his cup of Joe.
Could you please desist in “MUH”. It is not becoming of a gentleman of your stature.
I will not.
They say Seattle is now the biggest “company town” in America because of Amazon. You should see the employee fuckbots walking around with their fancy watches and stupid shirts. Gag me with a spoon.
But here’s the thing. There’s not really a Battle for Seattle Amazon vs. Costco, is there? When I go to Costco it’s like a third world county. Fucking like 10 different languages in those isles. When I go to Whole Foods it’s mostly attractive white women wearing leggings and pretending they just got out of the gym, but I’m like “bitch, you know you didn’t just work out.”
Anyway, long COST. Solid support at $150
You live in Seattle? No woofer why you’re such a blazing faggot. Since you’re somewhat normal, I gather you’d be considered hard core right wing over there — like some sort of nazi. No?
Correct. My friends say I spend too much time in the blogosphere.
Gapping is correct about Trader Joe’s having better pricing (might be related to the Aldi’s connection).
Also, farm raised Atlantic salmon isn’t nearly as healthy as wild caught salmon (sockeye, coho, silver brite, etc.) and can be found for about the same price fresh or frozen depending on the time of year.
That being said, as a Floridian I always get a kick out of going to one of those multi story Whole Foods in Manhattan. I like to watch the carts go up the escalator. It reminds me a bit of Thunder Mountain RR at Disney World.
How will Whole Foods continue to super serve their core higher-end customers? At the locations I visit they have already have marginally acceptable employees. If they now downgrade further to fast food level workforce, I will re-think my regular visits. This is because I buy prepared foods.
A local WFM went from an in-house kitchen with carribeann folks cooking great stuff, to stuff coming from another location.
