REMINDER: The Market is Going to Crash

The word ‘crash’ is a very strong word. It evokes all sorts of emotions in traders. Since we hear it so often by people clamoring for agony, we are programmed to dismiss it and laugh upon hearing it. However, it’s going to happen, one way or another. This market is destined to careen, mind you, through the floor boards and into the black abyss of nothingness — regaled by demons as a necessary evil to expunge the Orange Orangutan posing as our President.

The writing is all over the wall. You’d be wise to avoid trading during the month of September and early October.

Early going, losses are being evenly shared, with strength found in the most defensive sectors, such as REITs, gold and bonds. The FAANG trade continues to weaken, absorbing another 0.75% decline. This is a slow motion train wreck, being led lower by lack of enthusiasm and the fact that none of Trump’s glorious plans for the economy will come to fruition.

Theoretically, all of the gains shall be washed away, and more. A total and complete revocation is in order — with only bonds and gold to serve as a safe haven from the pangs of misery and absolution.

I so happen to be crash proof at the moment, 30% GLD/TLT and 20% cash. I welcome the aforementioned disaster and say this as a member of society who endeavors to live in peace and harmony. We’ve grown lazy these past 5 years, always preferring the short cuts — living in decadent and obscene nests adorned with items deserving of a popular revolt execution. While the people starve and scrounge around for scraps, poisoned by industrialists and robber barons, the investor class lives large and greedily takes more — in a manner that only a true caitiff and perfidious devil could appreciate.

“The Fly” stands ready for some old fashioned fire and brimstone, biblical austerity that will place the fear of God back into the hearts of cold men. Plus, I’m also interested to see how my new algorithms in Exodus perform.

Normally I would BTFD. This time NQ futures are discounted to out months rather than other way around

All I know is that the path of eclipse totality runs through the heart of Trump Country. The Cosmos is sending a message. The horror.

hoping for the perfect hand-off between earnings growth and fed tightening. Would be a first and earnings are to be seen, so far at least. The economy is another matter.

I wish someone could explain how these collisions happened on these warships. On my boat when on autopilot I cannot run into surrounding ships, AIS will immediately start warning and then will steer away from course to avoid collisions. I can’t imagine on a ship that large that they do not have collision warning systems, I know they can see on these ships. Something just is not right and I doubt they will ever tell us why it happened.

“As an Optometrist , I want to express concern that I have about the solar eclipse on Monday, Aug 21. There are serious risks associated with viewing a solar eclipse directly, even with the use of solar filter glasses. Everyone should keep in mind if they or their children are considering this.”

“We have to keep in mind that some people will encounter the inability to control every aspect of this exercise. For instance, true solar eclipse glasses are made for adults, do not fit children well and should not be used without direct parental supervision. If the solar glasses do not filter out 100% of the harmful UV rays, if they are not used absolutely perfectly, or should there be a manufacturing defect in any of them, this will result in permanent and irreversible vision loss for any eye exposed. Just like sunburn to the skin, the effects are not felt or noticed immediately. I have a great fear that I will have patients in my office on Tuesday, Aug 22 who woke up with hazy, blurry vision that I cannot fix. It is a huge risk to watch the eclipse even with the use of solar glasses. There is no absolutely safe way to do so other than on TV. ”

“The biggest danger with children is ensuring proper use without direct parental supervision. As the eclipse passes over many places, including Columbus, the moon will not block 100% of the sun. Because so much of its light is blocked by the moon, if one looks at it without full protection, it does not cause pain as looking at the sun does on a regular day. Normally if you try to look at the sun, it physically hurts and you can’t see anything. During an eclipse, however, it is easier to stare for a bit….and even less than 30 seconds of exposure to a partially eclipsed sun, you can burn a blind spot right to your most precious central vision. With solar glasses you can’t see ANYTHING except the crescent of light of the sun. Kids could have a tendency to want to peak around the filter to see what is actually going on up there. One failure, just one, where education and supervision fail, will have such a devastating consequence.”

Please, please be safe. Watch it on teevee.
