Mariah Carey has not done an override on her management organization and insisted on the things necessary for her to perform as well as she still can. A young person may be able to hit that Bb7 anytime, an older person needs to be in the right place.
She has her share of technical problems. With today’s in-ear monitors, stages are quiet. With a backing instrumental track there is no acoustic sound from a band, just a distant PA system with a delay. If the in-ear monitor is not working, a performer can’t move over to another stage monitor to hear.
Imagine day trading with no screen or information. Carey had to perform this way when her monitor failed.
It’s her fault she has not cracked down on her organization. The rest is just technical incompetence.
