There are crooked cops and then there’s Alonzo from the movie Training Day. This is Denzel Washington’s finest performance, which earned him an Oscar for best actor.
It’s about a lead detective on a special task force, targeting drugs, who is breaking in a rookie during his first day in the special unit. Things go from bad to worse, as the many layers of Alonzo’s corruptness are revealed.
I know cops who really, really like this movie, for Denzel’s part, which is scary onto itself and makes me think what these fuckers are doing “at the office.”
This is a top shelf form of entertainment.

My dad was a cop in Essex county for 30 years, says the American Gangster movie was BS, they made Richie Roberts look like a hero when he was a little b*tch. But he loved Training Day. lol.

Not sure I would call this Denzel’s greatest performance but it’s great. I always said that I’d pay to watch Denzel, “Reading the morning paper and drinking his coffee.” If he occasionally looked up and made a comment that would be the icing on the cake.
I think i heard on one interview, Denzel does not have a cell phone. That’s gangster.
Another David Ayers film. Great one!
A “must see” film with several performances so frightening I’d call this move a thriller.
