I don’t know why some men dislike Brad Pitt. For the love of God, the man starred in Fight Club, Inglorious Basterds, Legends of the Fall, A River Runs Through It, and now Fury.
This is a fantastic war film, offering a less jingoistic approach to glorified battle in favor for the harsh realities. This is not a sugar coated WW2 war film and it will make you feel uncomfortable at times. It’s haunting, inspiring, and also bad ass (cue Pitt speaking in German as he mows down the Nazi bastards).

I loved this film. Bravo amigo!
One of my favorite Brad Pitt roles was Early Grayce in Kalifornia.
I loved Brad’s breakout moment –> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyhk5T6zVUU
quite the inventive honey bear smoking device…
Indeud it was. I made one back then after I seeing the movie, lol.
Senator, I served with Das Boot. I knew Das Boot. Das Boot was a friend of mine. Senator, you’re no Das Boot.
Das Boot is awesome. So many good WWII films. My guess for Fly’s favorite was actually Schindler’s List.
I would guess older
Das boot was ok. Boring.
Private Ryan is best ww2 film ever
The first 76 pages of Das Boot were boring exposition, but that was the point: Being in a sub was months of boredom, days of terror, moments of victory… During which you gave away your position.
The German miniseries really captured that and developed the characters. The movie released in America cut from that miniseries was still pretty good.
I agree about Saving Private Ryan, though the Spielberg schmaltz hurt the ending.
I’m a spielberg fan so I’ll put in Empire of the Sun
Dragged a bit. Awkward pacing. Good story, tho. And the birth of Batman.
Saving Private Ryan was BEST ww2 Fillm ever! It had heart & saving a family’s sole survivor was true.
I will resist any fight club reference temptation
I got a thumbs down for Fury. Overall favorable marks but a bevy of unimpressed. I fall in the overcliche & vapid dialogue category. Moderately exciting as war genre & buildup, couldn’t maintain my enthusiasm as progressed
I will have to check this one out. Have yet to see it.
Fury is a poor man’s saving private ryan … shia lebeouf is the new uppam
seven and 12 monkeys are great too
Good pix – I’d toss Patton and the Great Escape in the mix too
Agreed, plus Stalag 17.
Billy Wilder directs great actors, including Otto Preminger.

Ah hem !

Kelly’s Heroes !

More a “dark comedy” of the “war movie genre.”
Great cast !
Great movie !!!
.
If we’re going down that road, I’m moving “The Dirty Dozen” to check and mate.
Imagining you identify with Donald Sutherland’s character in Kelly’s Heroes.
Sorry, wrong road. No dark comedy in the DD.
Just hero deconstruction.
Apocalypse Now is less about a war than a movie set in a war but it is fantastic.
Fury was decent but far away from a great war pic. Did have one great scene tho. When Pitt explains, at dinner, he is gonna bang the girl if the kid did not. Never know when your time is up during war.
Best Job I’ve Ever Had

Good thing I bought some downside on stocks, as it looks like Greece is heading down the shitter.
Here’s what I reckon though… As perverse, reckless and insane as it sounds you have to buy Euro stocks immediately after the exist. I am.
Here’s why…. the ECB is going to panic and offer all sort of assistance as well as making soothing noises about the EU monetary system to indicate looser policy.. A couple of days after the exit you should buy EU stocks or the indices through the ETF. If you’re really unhinged buy the 3 times leveraged ETF. Perhaps it’s not a good idea to buy by converting into euros as the Euro could take a massive dump and you won’t make any money. Borrow the euro and buy stocks for a short term trade.
Excellent movie, except the part where a handful of guys wipes out half the German army. This was based on a true incident in the 3rd Armored – read “Death Traps”. True bravery was getting into a Sherman to begin with.
Gruesome. watch the end of this.

Gotta go with Band of Brothers series. It’s a series about ordinary men doing extraordinary things. The war is simply a backdrop.
I really enjoyed End of Watch from the same director. Also, I loved how the director worked Christianity into Fury. I thought it was realistically done and added a lot of depth to the film.
I tried to rent on iTunes – again – buy only choice. Ordered it on Netflix.
