btw- re: the 5 K monthly grocery cost.
I can easily spend 1 K, and there are two people here. I make an effort to be reasonable, if I just went for it 2 K would be more like it. Not suggesting this is right for everyone, just a choice. I figure it’s better to spend the money on food intake, than many other things. I’m very thrifty in other areas.
Recently we’ve been buying things from the local grower’s stands. Not much variety, but the taste (and presumably the health part) is great.

Then you can load up on “old” Wonder Bread, Twinkies and Suzy Q’s. Stick them in an old freezer and voila- $$$ saved.

5k month is for food is shocking. We eat well here and we push at most 1,500-2k for a family of four. What could you possibly be buying that runs such a price?
