I see the traffic stats. Most of you mongrels pester me with your audience, then shoot over to Chess, OA and a little RC. However, a certain Mr. Caine Thaler, trained mathematician, supreme long term investor, long time tabbed blogger of iBC, gets little recognition for his services.
Like all mathematicians, save Einstein, Caine isn’t very flashy. He doesn’t lure you in with pornographic titles or astounding declarations of extreme violence. But he’s been killing the market, in his own way, for years.
He invests in long term ideas. Right now he is bullish on coal. Pay attention lads; he’s much smarter than you.
I asked him to summarize some of his recent winners. This is the spreadsheet he gave me.
If you’re looking for another go-to guy on iBankCoin, give Caine Thaler, master of the 9th floor, a chance. His track records demands recognition.
The ASCO conference is in full bloom today, with a slew of positive data coming out from a number of biotech companies. This is going to be a boolish day for biotechs.

i pop my head into the 9th floor everyday.
Why no love for Raul too?
One at a time. Caine has been here a lot longer than Raul.
What about his losing picks and overall returns?
He doesn’t pick many stocks. Feel free to find some of his losers.
As for “overall returns”: this isn’t a fucking mutual fund and none of the returns are audited, so judge for yourself if Caine is worthy of your fucking clicks, for they cost you so much.
Jeez I’m just asking
i read regularly and he is the long term counter punch to the active traders. his ideas are well though out and generally right.
Always read the Cainster, but only have eyes for you, Fly 🙂
Sounds gay, but not a homo comment.
Just when DOE kicks coal in the teeth with their new carbon emissions reduction regs.
” he is bullish on coal.”
Too risky. don;t catch a falling knife
I would rather just stick to FB, GOOG, and SPY
Easier to go long with what works, imho
Sorry Jennifer. Bad morning
Cain has nailed the market this year.
Agreed, Gorby
I still post my daily journal in the hidden blogger network if anyone is interested…

Cheers!
That spreadsheet doesn’t tell you if he beat the market. It’s easy to pick stuff that goes up 20% if the market is up 150% from March 2009. 10 picks in five years doesn’t tell you much about his stock picking prowess. imho
This is true. I was asked to post my gravy, not the overall picture.
Of the past 5 years, I’ve outperformed in three of them, performed about in line last year, and underperformed in one.
Suffice to say, I also don’t trade a lot. I prefer to sit and wait if I like an idea, so with 10-20% of my account in any single position, the whole picture shifts around a lot.
I think the site’s most recent design has relegated Mr. Thaler to a pretty inferior position. Maybe one way for him (and others – like Raul 3) to get more traffic is to have the posts under yours be ordered by most recent instead of fixed in order of Chess/OA/RC.
Cain proved himself to me with the HCLP call, still going strong. I appreciate his energy analyses and look to him for an education. Would never have considered uranium without his insight into the market.
