Thanks to GTAT spiking, I am up more than 1.5% for the day. Even though I like it, I had to sell half of the position–because I am winding down operations–preparing for the worst.
At same time, I averaged down in AAPL (original basis is $570) and bulked up on USG. I am prepared for both stocks to trade lower, post earnings. Naturally, I think they will trade up; but I am not in the names for today’s earnings announcements. Considering I sold USG close to $30, I am already $4.5 points ahead of the game.
I trimmed back on two old man stocks, KMB and CHD, as valuations reach absurd levels.
The inner gambler in me wants to buy MOAR, act reckless and drink 20 cans of red bull while throwing whole persons through thin sheets of wall board. Then I’d punch their faces in with clawhammers, whilst drinking more red bull from a chalice made from the bones of my enemies.
But I’m not going to do any of that. I’ve made a commitment to excellence and will practice the very discretion that I preach here until at least next week.

Whole persons, mind you.
VMW gets the hammer on the head…
Yes it does, I’m still long a tracking position and waiting for the dust to settle.
Beware of MSFT continuing to stick them in the eye with a hot poker.
Imagine you are the CFO at a Fortune 500 company, the choice is between free and 25k per license. You will pick MSFT Hyper-V.
Yes, ever since you mentioned that here I’ve been careful not to add and just watch how it behaves. I appreciate your input too so thank you! Even better coming from an Eye-talian pisan!
MSFT killed Novell in just a couple of years by taking away their installed user base.
MSFT did this by offering their new products cheaper than Novell sold their upgrades.
They will blunt VMW the same way.
Yeah if your a retard and you don’t allow your IT professionals to buy products that make the company more efficient.
Their technology (VMW) is the best, but I think their honeymoon phase is over as far as stock prices go – I’d look elsewhere personally.
Here is something to chew on – LNKD is a 20B market cap company while VMW is a 32B market cap company. One is incredibly overvalued and one is reasonably valued.
Lotsapussy on Appl Fly. Good show!
This is my final last warning to you bozos. The velocity of money is lower than it has been in over 60 years. How can you have any decent GDP growth? It will not rebound over night. This economy is the IV from Ben and that is all. The economy is as good as it will be until velocity moves up and it is not moving.
Money will regain velocity when Ben throws more from the helicopter on a windy day.
First, that’s not accurate – velocity is light but it’s not 60 years light.
Second, to be expected when the largest part of the GDP – consumers – is in the midst of a massive deleveraging. You need to consider consumer debt levels as well to get a purer picture.
As shown here, yes, money isn’t flying around being spent on “things” like it has been in the past. But it’s going to good use, for those of us that have the investing horizon longer than it takes to finish a bottle of Snapple:

Blow me
Shiff’s name makes me want to puke….
Break from the beach and tequila partner?
how much is enough tequila?
a little bit more.
Yes mr schiff. That’s why there’s no inflation even though there’s insane megalo money printing.
It ain’t going anywhere. Do you hear that mr benanke. You’re not going to recreate a bubble without it ‘being a bubble’. (duh)
Ben needs a swift kick….one with velocity ….we are in unchartered territory….the sky color is some kind of red.
Gold? It was hedge funds…no, central banks…no, the Japanese…who cares? Just buy the stuff here.
Go back to FRED and look at M2 Money Supply to GDP chart and then admit you were incorrect.
If I trim my old man’s stock where I would be than?
Dust is showing some awesomeness today
I have added KORS to my LULU pretty ass trade

I nominate this as the end of day song tomorrow

Baaaaaarf.
I have a feeling USG is going have an epic miss. Credit Suisse doesn’t upgrade a stock two days before earnings without a sinister plan.
USG will open under $23.
If usg opens at 23, I will double my position. I bought a half position for a reason.
re:AAPL- signs of a company that is going to be out business in the future.
1. Updated my iPhone 4S to the latest update 2 weeks ago- 6 something something.
2. WIFI is now permanently disabled and battery drain is noticeably faster- Must tether to a charger every 3 hours.
3. Made an appointment with the Genius store today in TX.
4. Genius representative- (looks like a butch lesbian with so many tatoos covering her body I could barely look her in the eye) says :” How can I help you?”
5. I explained the problem, she says, Oh yes, the WIFI problem. Come over here and let’s check your phone.
6. She shines a flashlight into the sync/charge port and then looks upo the serial number and I could see onm her ipad screen it said “no Apple care warranty”
7. She says-well, all you can do is to completely restore your phone if that doesn’t work you will need a new phone.
8. I said so I have to pay? She says yes. I told her I didn’t break my phone, all I did was update it why am I being penalized for this? She says your wifi was not working peoperly before the update, you just didn’t notice it. The update fixed many things and it rendered your wifi unusable due to the previous defects that were already there.
8. I said, so let me get this straight as a loyal Apple customer who owns 5 devices currently and has bought many more over the last 5 years, I must pay because I made the mistake of updating my firmware. ?
9. She said yes. I’m afraid I can’t do anything for you.
10. I immediately went to the AT&T store and viwed a demo on the HTC One and was blown away at how beautiful and capable the phone is. Makes my 4S look like a phonograph player. June 1 AT&T subsidy is available- I am buying the HTC One. And there you have it.
Get the Note II. Ignore the “it’s too big” argument. After you go 5.5 you’ll never go back…
Last phone that got worse with updates was the original Blackberry Storm.
I have always found Apple to be a solutions focussed company. I would go back and try again.
Update- I restored my iPhone- same problem. Did not help at all. All in all, a good thing. I’ve been wanting to switch for awhile now, this just gives me the hard push I needed to do it sooner vs later.
