When I asked you what were your favorite picks, I had no idea that you’d have any. I envisioned most of you finding picks out of the litter or worse, perhaps from Twitter, provided for an audience of chart chomping imbeciles. Bravo! to those of you who think before investing. I have nothing but admiration and respect for those who are able to ignore base instincts and live freely, think freely and wear outer garments befitting of a man mature enough to operate machinery or enjoy the arts.
As such, I’ve been tracking what the “smart money” has been buying/selling for a long time, not because they are better–but because they have more resources than most to isolate good ideas.

Very interesting post Mr. Fly. A few of the stocks are pretty surprising as “top holdings” and seem rather speculative, but what do I know?

Ugh, that is one ugly list of stocks.
The NLY pick is the only one that really catches my attention, but only if Pine River has held it ALL THE WAY from the beginning, back in ’09.

“Smart money” shows nearly the same lack of consensus as the twitterati. Their bankroll affords them more room for error than the twits, yet I don’t doubt that given enough time, most of those groups will wither as new leaders rise to the top.

It’s reflex to dismiss smart money as being pedestrian; but it simply isn’t true.
They employees many analysts, private investigators and journalist to do their dirty work.
I own and have traded a lot of these stocks on this list. YNDX, PANL, and CACI are the most recent although I own ATK now instead of CACI. ATK has to carve out or spin-off their sporting segment.
With the smart money of eurotrashland getting bank runned. How the fuck is there any smart money anywhere? Granted playing with others money is the key. The game is so polluted it is beyond redemption. Alas it must have always been so. How many times can you fuck a sewer and not get the stain?
I thought SAC’s top pick would have been “the 5th”.
