Now Get Ready For a Deal?

The house will convene on Dec 30th to make a deal.

Question:

Do you really believe they will strike a deal; and if so, how much will the market rise?

My guess is 220 points.

I’m just not sure they will do it. However, if they do, we will get a respite. Nevertheless, they’ve been known to disappoint. Therefore, I am keeping my 35% cash intact.

    1. Name your dog “Pal”….it just might show the real “Pal” who the “Real” pal is.
    2. What is your ratio of holdings on VHC vis a vis other holdings?
    3. You really think the GOP will blink first? A bad deal is worse than no deal…the country can hold off for a couple of months.

John Najarian said to sell with both fists. That’s a hell of a buy signal if I ever heard one.

If we go over then 0bama has the GOP by the short and curlys, adn they will be decimated in the mid terms. From the GOP stand point if we go over then vote some deal in the New Year, then they are seen as always voting for tax cuts. It will be interesting to see if GOP is viewed as obstructionists or saviours (sic). We go over witha deal in the New Year, and we head lower anyway, becasue the cliff is a side show. Something else will trash us.

It will be very difficult to decimate the GOP in the midterms. They only really hold one chamber. And the seats they hold they were handed overwhelmingly in 2010. Plus, they’ve had 2 years to gerrymander the shit out of those districts.

Obama’s hair is gray, and he will not be active in politics for much longer.

He can hope to be a Clinton figure, at best.

    This will be the scenario.
The market will be up tomorrow (especially on short covering).
It will then gap up (assuming a deal) on Monday AM and then a huge sell off as it will be baked into the market.
Remember the stimulus vote? As they were voting and approving same the market started going off it’s own cliff.

Lol debt ceiling vote coming again. It’s like August 2011 had sex with the last 4 months and gave birth to a bad joke.

A deal isn’t going to get done in time. It will get done at some point in January.

Obama called McConnell this morning goading him to make a deal. Problem is that Reid is the majority and is the only one that can make a deal.
Smart move by Der Fuhrer, distancing himself from the problem while placing blame on the republicans.
As long as 51% don’t know how the govt works he’s safe.

It takes 60 votes in the Senate to break a filibuster. These days everything is a filibuster.

The only deal they might make is to “kick the can” on down the road a few more weeks, then there is the debt ceiling limit and the hope of some kind of solid fiscal plan that will deal with the debt. But they mostly want to keep spending on any kind of rationalization they can come up with.

Listening to Durbin at the moment. he sounds like a NO,
You have to assume Obama will agree to end unemployment extensions and his Credit Card will be capped.

Like I said last week – they will kick the can. This is a pattern. Just like Europe and Japan. No solutions because there are none – just can kicking.
