Broaching the Subject of Profanity

My “Diseased America” post from earlier today was supposed to be an honest rant about how I view America’s social fabric. Amazingly, many of you turned away from the subject of some lunatic killing a dozen during a Batman movie to “Fly curses, therefore, he is evil too.”

Surprisingly, I have these same debates with Mrs. Fly, as she loathes my colorful internet persona and feels it is something she’d rather avoid. While it’s true, I don’t need to curse in order to make my point. It’s also true, comedy just isn’t the same without foul language.

Anyone here thinks Richard Pryor or George Carlin were “boorish” individuals? Who gives a fuck what you think! Those men provided comic relief to millions, something that only a few can do right.

I am coming to my point now.

If you are somehow distracted by the four letter language on this site, there is something wrong with you–just like there is something wrong with Mrs. Fly. You’re too uptight/conservative, focusing on the aesthetics and not the mechanics. This is an adult venue and we discuss money here. I am not a cartoon character telling Joey to fuck his Mother, mind you.

There is a time and place for everything. Frankly, this is the fucking time, and the place, for me to tell you, and others, to fuck off else face “wildish”, animistic acts of violence. I say these things with the utmost sincerity and candor. I ask nothing from you– but to take your shoes off when walking on my Persian rugs.

And remember, this site isn’t about you extracting information and using it for your own selfish purposes. This is my chalkboard and I get to spray paint on it, if that’s what I feel like doing.

I’m always shocked how individuals at their own free will decide to post their own opinions and analysis in a house where they control nothing and given everything. Then again, most people are vile creatures.

If people only knew how “business” is conducted. I’ve never been in a meeting where swearing wasn’t happening on a regular basis.

The profanity here is hilarious. Profanity is only indicative of poor status, breeding, or intelligence level when the person using it needs to use it. This could be the case due to a limited vocabulary, being a fucking moron, or something of that nature. You don’t need it, you just use it for its proper effect. Fuck anyone who can’t handle it.

Better to fuck up in here than in some movie theater. That’s really fucked up. Dude should get a speedy trial and execution. I don’t care how crazy he is or what kind of ‘victim’ he might be. Let the other crazies know you die for such horrendous behavior.

Public torture. Death by itself is too good for him and won’t teach others not to follow in his footsteps. Pain and agony for an extended period of time is what this fucker deserves and it should be on display for all to see and then watched over and over again on YouTube. That will make the next fucker think twice.

The simple truth is that profanity, when not use as a personal attack, is actually a relief valve for our own emotional outlet. It is our own human invention to maintain our sanity.

Nevertheless, posting profanity without injuring the readers’ sense of dignity is an art form only very few can accomplish. The Fly is one of those few artists.

I figured it out.

This whole media spin will set liberal precedent for TSA screeners at movie theaters, malls and shopping centers.

At first, I thought the issue would be guns; but, I can see where this headed.

This is just more communist infiltration.

Let’s hope the judicial system treats this for what it is: an absurd, wrongful and isolated crime.

But mark the Blind Read Ant’s words, we SHALL see “toughened” security now in the “town square.” Meaning, less Constitutional protection for citizens.

You’ll see.

Nothing wrong with the laws in this country – why shouldn’t someone be able to purchase two pistols, a semiautomatic rifle and a shotgun, avoiding federal reporting requirements and taking advantage of the state’s failure to pass significant firearms legislation since the Columbine massacre 13 years ago. Not to mention 6,000 rounds of ammo over the internet?

I’m all for unrestricted rights of the individual! That’s what freedom (fries) are all about!

And while we’re at it, I think everyone, every criminal, every delinquent, misguided teen, unemployed human, financially incapable, psychologically damaged, genetically defected humans should be allowed to reproduce one like themselves, no matter what age. IOW, go forth & fucking multiply, like the good book recommends/commands.

My Grandfather was a rugged WWII salt of the earth type guy. Smart, resourceful, respectful, but not above colorful language.

My Grandmother is a born again Christian.

One day my Grandfather said “damn” in front of us both. Exasperated, my Grandmother asked why he had to use such foul language.

He responded “Fuck if I know”.

Language is used for self expression. Substance still counts. A dozen F bombs is just profanity, a dozen F bombs with meaning is a statement.

Knowing the difference is key.

Do you notice stock market timing and comedy timing have a lot of the same cross over. IMHO comedic timing is just something you were born with, really can’t be taught. Richard Pryor would have been funny just reading the phone book. George C, ahhh not that much..his timing was just a smudge off. Fly I am drawn to you because you have “Pryor” Timing when it comes to the game. BTW, still think last week’s rally was just Iran rattling shaking and Tuesday meeting could stop all of that if the Iran + agree to meet again. We will see. And lol, AAPL this week..could make this Bear very happy. For the fowl language thing, this is no Fucked up, Cocksucking Stocktwits, rofl..we get to cuss here, lol.

Last week a shooting a BBQ in Toronto…21 approx were shot. Something has changed and it smells really bad. We are nearing a tipping point.

Good to know that you can’t buy two boxes of cold tablets, but 6000 rounds of ammunition is just fine…go USA!

Hm… .

On this point, I disagree.

500 deaths would be the outcome if multiple drug addicts, who consumed said cold tablets, firing 12 rounds hitting 12 person each.

This would, indisputably, be a worse result of evil.

Bullets, alone, don’t kill.

Intoxicated people are statistically more likely to commit crimes than mentally competent people.

Wasn’t the suspect (note, respecting his rights, not condoning acts) a neuroscience grad-student.

Please. This is not a run of the mill guy.

Will be… interesting (for lack of a more apropos word) to see if an intoxication or insanity defense is raised.

Quint says:

Your math is way off…no one could hit 12 of 12 after consuming 2 boxes of cold tablets.

And given your logic, you probably think we should all be “allocated” guns and a weekly supply of bullets to make everyone safer?

Hm, can’t say you’re unreasonable.

I’m just working with numbers and ranges. You can’t deny my hypo, of extremes, COULD be true (if unlikely).

Okay. Say these shooters are are “shooting .500″ (pardon the phrase).

That’s still 250 people, a lot more than 12.

My point still has standing, and that’s with liberal concession.

I TOTALLY disagree with the allocation for of gun and ammo for all idea.

It’s the premise that narcotic regulation should be less regulated as a predicate, from which gun control should be deemed the greatest evil, that I strenuously object.

Indeed, there are lots, and lots of people I wish never consider touching, let alone, mastering the operation of firearms.

I find this one of the more imminent and dangerous issues in the 21st century. Point of fact, the Supreme Court had not reviewed gun control litigation until a few years ago.

FIRST TIME IN US HISTORY.

That’s why I mention it.

The most prickly is not the first word “keep”, but rather to “bear.”

There’s been reciprocity “conceal carry” that I’ve been following for some time. It’s a critical bill that I hope gets cleared and passed this next cycle.

Men of my generation, besides the NRA, need to continue the practice that our fathers fought for.

You go to other country’s and try to speak your mind Quint (e.g. Canada).

What do you do when you can’t speak your mind, practice your faith, publish your viewpoint? Are you can ask that same government to be nicer to you?

Guess what, you think you can buy a gun there like here?

How about Europe?

Good luck visiting China or Burma, let alone have a firearm.

It’s important to think in the first person, not the third, when discussing the second amendment.

I’ve always held that it was specifically intended, with sage foresight, that the second amendment was the first amendment after the “first” amendment.

Yes. I’m aware most city slickers are more concerned about the freshness of the deli meat opinion from $YELP.

Me too. But every man ought to cherish this ancient and natural law, not confuse the issues (and women, too, for that matter).

For some reason, many people seem to think that the most important thing to do with their time is to divide people into categories of Good and Evil. If you are in a different political party, religion, race, social class etc., or you curse and they don’t, you get to be Evil– to deserve all bad things and no respect whatsoever.

People are even making death threats on the Net to people who are so Evil as to disagree with them about whether the new Batman movie is entertaining or not.

Most of our societal problems seem to keep going unsolved, while people keep dividing each other into Good groups vs, Evil groups, that could not possibly trust each other enough to get together to solve problems.

During her eulogy to Steve Jobs, his sister Mona revealed that his last words, delivered while looking into the middle-distance, had been: ‘Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow.’
There could only be one thing that would make a man like Steve Jobbs exclaim in wonderment, and that thing I believe would be the sights and sounds of heaven, Steve must have caught a glimpse of a pristine heaven and in acknowledgement of what he saw he exclaimed aloud oh wow! Oh wow!! Oh wow!!!

Thinking about the Subject of Profanity – Carlin’s ’7 Dirty Words’ was created in 1972. Pryor was shocking in the 70′s. American society needed to be taught a lesson that ‘dirty words’ are just words. But it’s now 40 years later and profanity is common and not that funny or shocking any more. Just repetitive and used when writers can’t think of a more descriptive adjective.
Regardless of the fucking profanity here, I read IBC often because it’s immediate and personal and intelligent. I just ignore all the ‘fuck offs’.
