They want it to have an end of times feel in order to create a chaotic situation and justify QE3. That’s why I think they will do nothing until blood is flowing and make it seem like an emergency, blamed on the Europeans of course. At this point, the election is irrelevant. It’s all about preserving those at the top of the food chain and kicking the can down the road. I think they are giving the metals a chance to climb and reducing their short positions in order to make room to short again when the QE announcement hits. They will not want to let metals go vertical so they are preparing to slam it down to keep it in check.
This is my opinion only and I’m sticking to it until I’m proven wrong or someone can provide a clearer explanation of what is transpiring.

I think that pretty much sums it up. The bailouts so far have been to bailout the euro banks who over invested in the periphery. Until the politicians admit this and undertake policies to spur growth, the problems will continue to fester.
It’s the elections that pushed it off the rails. I think they had it in hand until that monkey wrench. Maybe after all this the irony will be that we will wish we had more corrupt establishment types and fewer flaming idealists in positions of power.
