Fly Buy: YELP

I started a long term position in YELP.

NOTE: This is one of three companies that I feel can be “the next big thing.”

There is a possible major earthquake on March 22nd as well…coincendence?

The historical and geological records say the Earth and particularly the Pacific Ring of Fire will experience a 9+ magnitude quake event on March 22, 2012 @ 4:58:34 UTC where Earth axis is expected to shift 5+ inches. Earth experienced a simlar event on February 27, 2010 and March 11, 2011 and we expect the 188-day Cycle Pattern to continue. Everyone living in a seismic zone should pay careful attention to events transpiring around March 22, 2012 along with people living near the coasts.

Don’t forget energy. Always does good in the election cycle because right now Big Oil is bundling millions to Romney and 0bama. Even 0bama says “Ain’t nothin’ I can do about the price of oil” (Careful to drop his G’s for his thugs in the hood and the white cracker vote).

One question: How will they make money?

The whole model is based on people providing feedback, which is nice, but ultimately you are only going to look at something you are already interested in…and if it sucks you’re not going anyway.

I don’t know one person (yet) who goes to yelp.com and then looks for suggestions. You can Google your location just as easily to find a restaurant

I admit I am very old school, non-tecchie, but I don’t see how this business model survives.

With that said, people love buying these stocks, so I’m not saying it can’t go higher…I just don’t see the fundamental rationale.

Somebody please explain it to me.

I use it to find new spots. Their search capability is becoming quite useful. I can type in something as simple as “live music tuesday night” and come up with a few places – instantly see the highest rated ones and read a few reviews. YELP has this cult like following of people that actually write legit reviews and as much as I don’t like putting my trust in numbers of rando’s… the reviews are typically spot on. A better tool than G-maps of your location and searching restaurants or something.

Also – you’ll notice when you search for companies more and more often the first listing on google is the YELP page. Not sure how their SEO does this but it makes a case for the importance of businesses to register. There is a revenue model in there somewhere. Just my speculation.

The CPC cannot directly tell you the exact day that the markets will begin the sell off. But what it does say, once a 0.7-ish number is printed, is that typically within 0 to 10 trading days the markets will experience a sell off !

The next big thing! Really?? The huddled masses buy ipads and iphones, but do they use YELP for Olive Garden or Buffalo Wild Wings? Of course they don’t. Swing and a miss, Le Fly.

Perhaps you are right and I am the one missing something simply based on casual YELP use and no research. Your stock selection thesis usually resonates with me, so to build a better “feel” for YELP I will reach out to the 20something crowd for their “spin” on YELP. btw, Chicago market here.

Too bad this edition of the blog has been poisoned by a seriously demented slimeball writing dreck that should result in BANNED.
Okay, I’ll try yelping about the tea on my next trip. My spec is still AEMD.

The haters are coming out in droves. If one wishes to invest in his wife’s tits, so be it. Every jackass that talks shit on here wouldn’t have the balls to say anything if the other person they were directing their comment at was standing in front of them.
