Wake me up when my house is on fire.
As an aside, I just found out that the cocksuckers in North Carolina are trying to get the “anti-fracking” ban removed, in order to destroy the Raleigh area. Gas companies have already begun leasing drilling rights from the fucking hillbillies living in that area. It’s only a matter of time before the politicians are paid off and the ban is lifted. Fucking great. Now I need to find a different place to live.
Dare I say Georgia? I gather GA might be a little too redneckish for the likes of me. Dare I say if I moved down there, my finer Northern sensibilities would cause me to reenact the splendid actions of our very own GENERAL SHERMAN.
I am doing NOTHING into this sell off. I am just watching the birds shit all over my neighbors cars and now I am fixin’ to take myself over yonder to have a nap, hear!
If you enjoy the content at iBankCoin, please follow us on Twitter
Orange county. That’s where i would move. here I am stuck 1000 miles north of there in this freezing cold shit.
*like
lol me 2. park your car for 20m and you need to scrape it again.
Build yourself a big ol’ estate in the mountains of Asheville, NC.
thats in the line of fracking fire
There are more Yankees in Atlanta than Southerners.
It’s like Charlotte, for the most part, just worse traffic.
I’m telling you… GREENVILLE, SC!
______
Used to travel there a lot in my former life. Do they still sell drinks in the bars using the little airline size shot bottles?
Not on my last trip. The airport is pretty cozy, as I recall. I mostly drive through on my way to the beach, these days.
________
It’s been quite a few years – I used to go Bi-Lo HQ. The Marriott I stayed in could only sell drinks out of those little one shot bottles – very strange.
BMW also has a test track there that drivers can come to try the new models – which would have been very to do
Beamer has since been joined by Electrolux, Kitchenaid, Boeing, and a number of Euro manufacturers looking for skilled labor.
The Weston was the hotel I always stayed at… don’t remember the Marriott.
You have to see that park they did in the middle of town. Outstanding.
________
RE: Greenville SC.
Three words: Bob Jones University
That is all.
Nope, fracking going on south of Containment Area for Relocated Yankees.
I hear you…
dont forget the tea.
Mr. Plutonium Petey;
This is not advice. You may want to look at Gasfrac = GFS.to. Fracking with NGL (propane gel). Sounds counter-intuitive but it’s less environmentally hazardous than fracking with water borne agents. NGL’s are all recovered (as if they were occurring naturally in the reservoir).
All fine and dandy until your propane goes “Boom”.
Waste of time to live anywhere that’s not close to an ocean. Don’t be fooled. North Carolina is The South.
That’s what he wants.
He’s living in Snookeyville right now. Who wants that?
And btw, all the Carolinas and Georgia share one one contiguous coast NEXT TO THE OCEAN.
Geez.
_________
______
Snookeyville, ha ha!
Yo Magellan.. last time I checked Raleigh is about 200 miles from the sea. Not exactly close.
130 miles to Wilmington. Raleigh is not exactly beachfront, but 2 hrs ain’t bad.
I recommended Wilminton over Raleigh anyway.
Wrightsville Beach, and no fracking fracking.
______
If you want to be close to Wilmington, Bald Head Island is the best. Accessible only by boat, beautiful beach.
Bald Head… I have a hs buddy w. a place down there.. they love it.
No cars there, however. How is Fly going to scare the townfolk screeching around in his black golfcart (with spinners)?
________
Ywaa Hahaa!
Three reasons Fly should move to Texas.
1. Ten gallon hats/tumbleweeds (tie)
2. Big long roads that never seem to end
3. Um…lets see…um…
Don’t forget the babes.
______
Lincoln, Nebraska for babes and NCAA too. KindOf flat though.
plus the entire state smells of cow shit
No state income tax is a plus.
ROFL @ reenacting civil war. I’ve read a bunch about KY being nice, incidentally while searching for gold/silver articles
No more Yankees allowed until 2020.
So sorry. They cut the quota drastically after I came down here.
My bad.
________
right down i65,used to do it in less than 3 hours from chi. always 20 degree’s warmer
3 hours??
What were you driving, a Ferrari?
________
You are more than welcome to move to Canada, the land of yoga pants and blackberry’s.
(Plus, you’ll get) Socialist Certified Television Programs!
I keep seeing all these Car commercials where of course.. the husband or wife buys a car for their spouse.
Serious question…
Have you personally known anybody to actually buy a NEW car for somebody specifically as a Christmas present?
yes, with a bow on top too. 500sl back in the 80s.
Best commercials are the ones w. Puddy selling Hondas and pulling the bows off the tops of the cars.
“Are you a millionaire?” LOL.
_________
The four places that people from NYC like around the country once they move are:
1. Austin Tx
2. Denver
3. San Fran
4. Chicago
Tonnes of Yanquees down South now.
I hear good things about Denver, however.
San Fran? Oy. Napa/Sonoma maybe.
_________
Brother has lived in Denver for 10 years. He’d move if not for the job and the mountains. Finds Denver dirty and dry. Not a fan. But he loves the Rockies. It’s worth putting up with his displeasure of living in Denver. Great place to be if you love the outdoors. Personally I’d live in Salt Lake City if I could have a do-over. Close to all the outdoor activities I love.
Give me Boulder if CO is in play. Love that city.
The South is just Snooky with a drawl and more crabs.
It would be immeasurably improved if Sherman were to start from Tennessee again, plunder his way to Atlanta and up to NC again. Then and only then might one consider it livable.
@jake
Per capita income in Greenville is 23k!
I simply can’t live with such economic “diversity.”
That shit is all out of date. Plenty of coyne in Greenville/Spartanburg.
Have a look see. You must have some clients who live somewhere in the vicinity.
Besides, you could go around telling me you live near “THIS IS SPARTA-nburg!”
_______
What about the hometown of the honourable Mr. Woodshedder? Sullivan’s Island/Mt. Pleasant is a great place for the chillins.
Highlands or Cashiers are both perfect spots close to Asheville.
Asheville area is nice, treu.
______
Spent an awesome summer in Cashiers one year. No air conditioning needed.
Phucking classique M. LeFly.
Try Williamson County outside of Nashville – no income tax, great schools, beautiful land, and easy to go anywhere East Coast.
I’m from Chapel Hill – great area, but really? Fracking?
Is that where Brentwood is?
Or Franklin? Those are two nice towns in Nash Vegas area.
I think Moobs lives in Franklin…
_________
Yep, Brentwood and Franklin are where the well-heeled folks live. Abundant land lots, McMansions, beautiful countryside. High property taxes. Lovely area if you can afford it. The area is rather expensive for the South.
Wmson cty has Brentwood, Franklin, Leipers Fork – really beautiful bucolic area. Moobs lives in Franklin? So do we…
Different circles, I’m sure!
vinalhaven maine, its an island, 14mi off the coast. grandfather owned a home there. was raised there. his hs class had 6 students
Do not move to the bible belt part of the south but go west young man, where the air is fresh, the cities are clean and IQ’s are above room tempurature…
Can they spell temperature properly out there?
I know they increasingly vote Demo, so prolly not….
______
Ok professor. I guess the deep south is Ok if you want to be a born again redneck…
Once is fine for me, thanks.
I just don’t know how you can be so prejudiced against the Southern people, though.
They’re a hell of a lot nicer than the folk I grew up with.
_______
Yep. My 19th century NY family is on Georgia’s census for one year (livestock sales, etc.).
Georgia. Women. Yes.
Spoken like a true bigot. Well done.
The Colonel is just bitter, not such a bad guy.
He’s probably all Christmased out. 😉
_______
Indeed, I’m just tired of the stereo-types constantly perpetuated. I get a bit prickly about it anymore. I should chill.
Colonel’s BadAss, what Jake says.
You’re an elitist dick. Did mommy and daddy raise you right out west to feel good about yourself for being a racist fuck?
By your use of language you never had a Father, he would have beat the tar out of you.
Plenty of northern folks around Atlanta. You’ll fit in just fine. The real Southerners moved out long ago and only visits the Dome or a Braves baseball game. Personally I was more than happy to leave that shithole but it appeals to many, especially northerners who want their money to go much further.
If you want a pleasant city to live in try Nashville. No state income tax.
I’m looking into Louisville, KY and Charleston, WV areas for investment properties 2012. Any opinions about those locations or the two states generally (would be appreciated)?
North central AZ (Sedona), as far away from Phoenix as practical. Great weather, great views, and only for the rich.
Sedona is nice. Cold as a witches tit at night in the winters, however.
_______
Keeps it “seasonal”. Light dusting of snow to take your photos in the morning, then melts.
Flagstaff (another 1500′ up) usually gets more snow than Chicago.
Sedona is full of bus loads of tourists now. Thirty years ago it was a small pretty town.
Buckeye, AZ (21st century Phoenix).
Fracking has been going on for 50 years. If you believe these enviro nuts that it’s a bad process you are just uninformed.
I believe fracking is something I don’t want to deal with. That’s all
Buy a bunch of acres down there and frack the shit right out from under yourself for big kasch.
Selling one home in YankeeLand equals one summer home in the Asheville area and one winter home on an island of your choice near Charleston. Mint Juleps for everyone.
I like the way you think.
Or do the same, but grab the winter home in Western Florida. Even Naples is actionable these days.
I do love me some Prince George Island, though (or Kiawah, or Seabrook, or even Hilton Head and Sea Island).
_____
Thinking of moving to SC or GA demands excluding anyplace other than Sea Island, GA.
Sea Island is cheap(er) too… heard those silly phuckers bankrupted themselves.
______
The Fly is on fire today. Two excellent commentaries. I myself am looking at large tracts of lands in AZ.
Sedona vacant land is relatively cheap. Even higher end homes moving again. Distressed props are almost gone.
But the entirety of Phoenix could be called distressed.
um. There’s no fucking water in Arizona…
the entire southwest is going to be very thirsty in a few years
At least with no water, there will be no fracking…
LOL!
______
Let’s be seriou. The question is not where you want to move.. it’s where your wife and kids want to move.
Pussy whipped?
In or around Portsmouth, NH is beautiful. Consider it….
Leave the US
Are you still in Leon?
Knoxville, tn?
Anyone?
Dubz- no way
Nice town. Can’t go wrong with a University town. Folks love their Vols. No state income tax. Gateway to the Smokies if you like the outdoors. Close to Nashville, Chattanooga (a GREAT town- but possibly too red for your liberal sensibilities) and Asheville (another great town). It would be my 3rd choice among big cities in TN behind Chattanooga and Nashville.
Beautiful – Used to travel there on business and fell in love the Smokey Mtns. Took the Family to Gatlinburg for vacation two years ago and was one of the best. Very affordable and no state income taxes
Suggestion: Check the crime stats first. You will be surprised at the crime rate in the bible belt, especially Raleigh.
I don’t know shit about the actual towns, but I am a mite cautious of East Tennessee except as a beautiful weekend getaway. I would move to Chattanooga in a heartbeat if I never had to leave the house, except of course to go canoeing. That place is gorgeous.
FWIW – Everytime I drive through Knoxville those fuckers give me a ticket. 6 lane highway and its 55 fkn mph. Bull shit speed trap. And traffic is horrific going through Knox on I-40 — no matter what the time.
Knoxville is a great town, too. Near a lot of very fun lakes, where everyone has a house.
Not too far from Dollywood, which is a great destination for admirers of tremendous tracts of land.
________
You’re gonna have to brush up on your SEC football history for sure.
GA and NC suck ass(lived in both), except that the people outside the cities are courteous. I live in San Francisco, the weather sucks for the west coast. I grew up in Marin, just north, where you would probably fit in. My pick however, is Santa Barbara, can’t go wrong, especially in Montecito, Summerland, or Hope Ranch.
And you’re close enough to visit the nearby Reagan Prez Library any time you wish.
I’ve got tonnes of fambly in Marin.
Red Zone activity galore.
_______
Red Zone, as in drinking Pinot Noir whilst speeding in a Bentley, or the Niners clinching the NFC West?
As in replete with commies.
Gotta love Niners fans, though.
Dedicated like you read about…
Ninerrrrrrzz!
_____
Pinko’s do run rampant I’m afraid and it is also awash in both new and old money ass hats. Interesting fact, the Marin IJ(newspaper), reported proudly that Marin had the highest amount of citizens complaining about other citizens burning wood during a winter “spare the air day.”
All of this leading into the FOMC, this really should have happened in the Friday PM session, Markets move so slow sometime.
Someone has a case of the NIMBYs
upload a pic, and not of Rona Paul. WTF are saying I don’t want The Fly here? I don’t wish this horror on any man, except Nick, hippies, and well you know.
Le Fly … how about Annapolis MD
Excellent recommendation.
Except that you are in Maryland. I think their latest slogan is:
All the communism of New York/New Jersey with half the good restaurants.
________
Fly, I recommended TN a long, long time ago to you on twitter!
oh please. what about all the pesticides and shit they spray on crops, that doesn’t get into the drinking water? Something tells me the shit farmers spray their crops with is a lot worse than fracking fluid lol
If you want to live in the South and burn up, you might as well live in an entertaining free wheeling place like New Orleans– if you are willing to put up with the heat and hurricane risk. Other places in the South where I’ve been are great to visit but would be boring to live in.
The West Coast is the best place. Beautiful beaches, educated people, a creative center. You don’t freeze in winter. You don’t feel like you are living in nowheresville and there’s no one intelligent to talk to. Why not just move to San Fran? I would if the cost of living weren’t so high. But that should be no problem for you, Fly.
He’d be pulling his eyeballs out inside of three weeks.
__________
SF will make you want to go postal everyday. I have to drive across the city right now and would rather have a sweaty Hippo dick slapped across my face.
Why wouldn’t he like San Fran, Jake? Or did you mean New Orleans? People are colorful in both places– unlike in most sections of the U.S. Fly would want to meet other colorful people, I would think.
People in SF are colorful, yet completely unaware of how the real world works.
Shout out to Southern Calif…SF has way too many hills and sucky parking.
But Fly was not a fan of California when he went on Vacation. The best factor for West Coast is that the market closes at 1pm here..so you have the rest of the day to focus and you get to watch the Asian Session in Primetime.
He like LaJolla. (Who wouldn’t?)
Carlsbad is nice too.
________
Jake, great places to live.
Santa Barbara > LJ
But wherever you think you want to move, I would go there for a long visit first. Because places are pretty different when you stay there a while, than when you visit quickly or hear others describe their own impressions. I’ve moved a few times, and believe me, you don’t realize what you’re getting into right away.
The Pacific Northwest is a fine place to raise a family. Clean, safe, friendly and very beautiful.
West of the mountains………all liberal, all the time.
East of the mountains……….other side of the coin.
However…….fast paced “East Coast Types” don’t fit in at all.
I live there myself in the Pacific Northwest. Cloudy and rainy for months at a time on the West side. Everyone is glum for months on end but pretending they are not depressed.
Smiling and joking are foreign concepts. I watched Goldie Hawn fall flat in Seattle, at a conference where she was speaking. She was funny but no one laughed except me. Too bad I was too far back in the crowd and she couldn’t hear me.
I know, you don’t find it depressing at all. You just don’t have the energy to come up with a handle for yourself so you call yourself ?. On the East side it’s dry and deserty and country bumpkkin territory.
Hopefully you can find more interesting and upbeat friends and your life improves. I am pulling for you.
Thanks. I hope you find a good anti-depressant so that you acquire enough energy to think of a real handle for yourself, instead of “?” I do have some interesting and upbeat friends. None live in the Pacific Northwest.
Frog,
I was not being snide at all. I was serious. You seem unhappy and I hope your life improves. That was all. Having no friends where you live must be quite hard.
You can now have the last word if you like. I can’t be offended….this is the internet after all……:-)
I know you think you are normal. You think other Pacific Northwesterners are normal. It’s something I can’t explain to you. You have to live in a place with sun for a while to experience it.
But the last of your worries should be MY unhappiness.
Fly,
I appear to be one of your few readers who actually lives in Raleigh. Born and raised actually!
Let me be blunt: fraking will never happen in this state. Our city and state elected officials are extremely sensitive to environmental concerns down here.
It is still safe for you to come down.
I live in Raleigh as well, where would they able to frack in Raleigh?
I can’t see any fracking occuring in Wake Country, Durham or Orange anytime soon.
I just dont see it anywhere in NC. Take one look at the new NCDENR building they just built downtown to see the state’s commitment to the environment: http://ncdenr.gov/web/greensquare
That damn thing uses rainwater to flush toilets and suddenly they are going to allow fraking. No way!
Frack Duke!
Lol, sorry, too easy.
________
Des Moines, Iowa $1 lapdances, gorgeous chicks
The airport in Chawlotte is one of the finest places in the country to girl-watch. They come in all flavors down there, and for some reason I think southern ladies are kind of the thing. Alot better than west coast ones, who have that west coast artificiality thing going on, and alot less busy than east coast ones.
Folks, if Europe doesn’t change its monetary system we are going under S&P 1000, just so everybody knows, AND we are going to have a recession in 2012.
we never got out of the recession from 07.should have said,”we will be in a depression”. there, fixed it for ya.
Go where the air smells the best to you.
Kohala for me.
But getting up at 3am to daytrade is a bitch
Laguna Niguel has the best smelling air.
Jasmine.
_______
Google fracking, Cary, NC you idiots
You have nothing to worry about.
It will never happen there. They have ordinances on how big signs can be outside of stores, they’re not going to allow fracking. The town is totally anal. Cary is one of the most highly educated places in the entire US and prides itself on being as a premier destination to raise a family. Its a non-issue.
Source: Im currently typing this in Cary
T bird
You underestimate the gas companies ability to bribe politicians. Do research and you will see how people are expecting this and have already sold leasing rights .
It’s coming to a water source near you
http://www.newsobserver.com/2011/11/20/1657845/nc-lawmakers-trips-to-fracking.html
I would have thought this article would have garnered more Fly-interest.
_______
Crime rate is too high in Wilmington.
Many of you are okay living in crime infested areas. I am not.
Will you just come down here already!
This isnt Chicago, we dont have rampant official bribing. But we do have massive state budgets for our environmental programs.
We have the Saudi Arabia of potential wind farms off the coast of the outer banks… you dont see wind turbines out there, though. We dont play with that shit, Fly.
That’s one very small part of Wilmington, and it’s just like any other city.
It’s not Bed-Stuy, believe it.
Everyone has a gun down there… no one will be busting into your house if they value their innards.
________
ROFL – you mean like on an island where the FIREMEN have to watercannon filthy mongrels off of policemen?
No, no crime problem on Shat an Island.
All these towns sound nice…but you’ll still have the Italian food issue.
Tons of Lawn Guylanders in Wilmington, I THINK because of the nascent film industry down there.
They usually open their own Italian.
_________
@Fly man, if you are worried about the fallout from fracking, you should start worrying about the sky falling and shit like that. It’s a non issue believe me.
Right. You didn’t see the 60 minutes program about people with fire coming out of their faucet and tons of poisonous chemical appearing in their well water samples once fracking began in their area.
Their usual “fair and balanced” piece, no doubt.
_________
Wherever you move, remember to uphold the New Yorker image. Roll up to the town hardware store in a convertible blasting this :
http://youtu.be/fEmgDXlZZOI
.
Howell, NJ. 90 minutes from dinner and a show, 60 minutes from the real Snookiville.
5 sided blocks to keep cars away from your home. (minimize traffic) You might only see 20 cars pass a day.
As for luxury and yard space; the sky is the limit. You will be surrounded by elite former New Yorkers spending big bucks.
It’s on Rt. 9, just past Marlboro, and before Forked River. Good stuff. My sister is there for 30 years, but I’m still in the belly of the beast.
Here’s just one real estate clip from Youtube :

that house is a fucking hovel.
