Dollar Dump; Stocks Gain

The dollar dumped out today, lending to strength in stocks. Despite downgrades in the tech sector, the market managed to hang in there, as the clown fuckers from LinkedIn “oohed and ahhh’d” everyone with their fantasm of an IPO. Personally, as opposed to some other guy writing here in the first person, I think LinkedIn is a retarded website, dedicated to socially inept nerds.

Moving along, precious metal stocks have sucked balls for weeks now. I am getting tired of holding AG/EXK. I should have sold them higher. Hindsight is 20/20.

All in all, today was a very, very boring day. Sometimes boring is good. It gives you time to think, as opposed to being flipped around in hot oil all day long.

Top picks: refiners

Why the muted PM reaction to the weak dollar? Opex?

I don’t know a single homo who doesn’t use LinkedIn. When homo’s won’t not use something, you know it’s not awesome. Never.

I’ll be disappointed if Facebook doesn’t trade $1,000 on it first day.

The purpose of LinkedIn is to hopefully build a life-boat for when the unemployment level increases even further. Nearly every keen cheeseball with an MBA will have all of his buddies on there for when the guy he’s working for needs to cut costs. In times of volatility and uncertainty (i.e. the near future), a lot of those guys will be sending linked in messages to every contact they ever shook hands with at a conference, getting the message out that they are available for hire as an MBA cheesball. From that standpoint, and in the context that we are in economically moving forward, it’s not a bad business. Is it worth gazillions of bucks? Me no thinky so either. But it is more useful and adds more value to society than open table.

Myspace (r.i.p.) actually brought more value to society than linkedin, facebook, and open table combined because it’s open design format promoted 12 year old girls to learn rudimentary HTML programming in the effort to “pimp” out their pages with pictures of unicorns, pixies and rainbows. It inspired many graphic designers.

other than that social media is basically best for trash talking, out of context soundbytes, inside jokes, and the ability to stalk on all of your exes, and to get an update on all the people you hate.

Agreed, as a parent of a teenage girl who “started out” on myspace, and an STBX whose spouse got in touch with every girl he ever knew or wanted to know on facebook. I hate fb more than mere words can ever convey. argh

And I know from experience and from hacking my STBX’s fb page how I did get to spy on all the people I no longer like very much. sigh

Loved the way you described myspace and the many ways young girls used it and learned from it.

Thank God, my daughter no longer shows much interest in any social networking site. Hopefully the sign of the future.

Most of the unemployed, the ones not counted by the gubberment, don’t give a monkeys ass about linkedin. MBAs don’t count as they are slightly lower than monkey shit on the evolutionary chart. Yeah, somewhere between monkey shit and neanderthal shit.

Yes, puts will be the guaranteed winning trade. They will be dirt cheap, due to the low volatility of LNKD. You nailed it, putz.

For a ticket closer to economic freedom: “I am the one to do the deed, I AM THE ONE.” DevilDriver. I wonder, out loud in a melodramatic fashion, hypothetically, if such puts should be short term or (e.g. LEAP’s) long term??? ??? ???????

You’ve said this back in November and again back in Early March. But the market seems to shrug off any bad news and plow ahead. What makes you think it won’t happen again presently?

I agree. I think we’ve topped out. This feels a lot more different than Early March. A slow methodical downtrend.

The reason that we are in Afghanistan:

I actually think the article downplays the lithium opportunities but at least it gets the general idea correct.

The link works in Canada. You might be censored down there. Try googling “JP Morgan’s hunt for Afghan gold” or something similar. An alternative interpretation of recent events: Afghanistan inked some big mining deals with China, snubbing the US. Many of the locals were pissed off, and didn’t want foreigners turning their country into a giant mining operation and taking their resources… So tension builds. Americans made back-door deals, quietly with certain Afghans to bring greater future prosperity to Afghanistan by eventually introducing a mining based economy and building up the countries infrastructure instead of the Chinese (who most of the world vehemently and wisely does not want as overlords). The US (and its bitches such as Canada) sent in a bunch of troops to stir shit up, ensure that the Chinese operations were unable to be built. This cascaded into a civil unrest/war between the guys in charge who want to get rich, and the average Joe Afghani. Remember now, the average Joe Afghani is an easily excitable type, and it was easy for Mullah’s (the taliban) to get people pissed off about the foreigners who want to come destroy their way of life (which consists of a strange combo of islam and gay child-rape), take their resources, and eventually control their government through the introduction of international fiat debt. The US is taking the opportunity to remove dissent from the gene pool, both individually, and numerically. The dissenters who despite having serious issues like opium addictions and gay boy-toys are merely trying to preserve their culture and way of life IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY are called insurgents, terrorists, and other such things. I actually do think Osama bin Made-in-USA needed a bullet in the face, but the timing and unfolding of all this is questionable at best. I wonder if the former Afghan government (Taliban) was trying to go to a gold standard as the Koran demands. WHY ARE WE SPENDING HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS IN AFGHANISTAN? my2cents.

Same can be said about Iraq … We spent billions there, terminated Hussein, installed a new government and they awarded all their oil contracts to Russia & China … So why do we bother is right? Why must we incur the losses and debt so others can reap the benefits? Our leaders need to plan for a different outcome or send the new governments the bill before their resources are committed to the onlookers.

    LMAO!!!

That might be your finest line ever Fly.

Even Cramer is bitching about LinkedIn tonight. Called it a sucker play. It’s amazing how many fucking retards there are that are stupid enough to get sucked into these tech IPO manias!

Well my little unloved US Dollar is holding its 75.00 level, yes its below Jakes 75.22ish, but it is still in a bullish flag and still resting…Friday is normally risk off, so that may help my little one…for my indicator, we had a heck of little difference between the Advance-Decline volume of the NYSE and we are EXACTLY nuetral…so a market without any type of bias.
