    Fly,

Are you not afraid it would become another FTK? To hold it longer than you expected…

“High water would likely cause multiple failures of earthen levees, floodwalls and other structures, and metro New Orleans would go under water. The resulting inundation — as much as 25 feet — would rival the flooding caused by the failure of the federally built levees in Hurricane Katrina.
Fortunately, the disaster spelled out by the corps can remain hypothetical. The Bonnet Carre and Morganza spillways were built in response to the devastating 1927 flood for just this kind of situation. Opening them both is necessary to avert catastrophic flooding in highly populated areas.”

Down 18% already. If I bought 5.10.11 would I be able to sell 5.13.11 or will I have to suffer through weekend?

Should be 3 days from when you made your sell of the original stock. If you sold something on May 10 and bought ALJ the same day, you should be able to sell tomorrow at the latest. Might even be able to sell today.

That’s why I always keep a couple of bucks in reserve when I sell. Then I can see settled funds available vs. total funds available. When the two are equal you’re good to go to unload everything you bought with unsettled funds.

Here’s what I’m thinking. I see people are always suggesting the bearded clam has a hand in moving markets around and is always there in the undergrowth.

I think the clam did intervene and he intervened quite heavily. He intervened by raising deposit requirements on commodity contracts and I reckon the fucker will keep on doing it if he thinks commod prices will threaten US/Global growth.

Unless I’m mistaken … and I’m going from memory here, the fed has some say on margin requirements either directly or indirectly.

Bashing down commods will help avoid demand destruction and this is where the government will be focusing on for a long time.

The only way they can be beaten is if vol falls off and commods rise very slowly in which case the increases can be tolerated. However if we see sudden moves up again they will rise margins.

I agree with you on this. Bernanke at a statement after this last Fed meeting said that inflation was just a “temporary” problem. Lo and behold the very next week, the silver margin requirements got hiked over and over. Now oil. This is hardly a coincidence.

This is going to be interesting, Frog. If the Fed influence causes commod margins to go higher it basically causes specs to exit the commod markets until vol is down and margin can be lowered again. The moment vol goes up or prices rise quickly they will come in and slam on higher margins again.

If they succeed this should be good for industrial stocks as they will be able to buy commods and arb the the margin if consumers are buying. One way or another the money creation has to find a level and it could be in stock prices.

This would mean that refineries would take off.

Wow, if that all worked out, then we could all just hold onto our WNRs long term.

all these margin requirements were specifically for silver, to do nothing but save jp morgues ass. they are short more silver than their whole market cap, period. they did the same to crack, crude, and gas. actions speak louder than words my friends. just wait, when more of the unwashed become illuminated to what there money will be worth, then sit back and watch. there are alot, and i mean alot of people who have 401k’s and all the rest that they can get through employment.who still dont know anything about the metals. and all they know is that they hate the oil companies, if you ask them why, the only answer they can give…….higher gas prices…… the dumbing down works….. its the awakening that needs to be put in force.
