Since they’ve seized the assets of poker sites, when do we hear the news about them doing the same with scottrade,etrade,ameritrade,etc? afterall, is online poker all that different than online trading?
poker you pay a fee with every pot you play but other than that you play against the players. Trading you pay a fee with every trade you place, but other than that you play the other traders. Trading can still be done offline, poker can as well. Poker you bet on specific cards at given conditions (preflop, flop, turn, river) based on information you have and stocks you do the same only with stocks of companies instead of cards at given quarters of earnings. Even the bluechips occasionally go bust, as do pocket aces.
How is anyone that is in trouble for “online gambling” any different than anyone who is placing a wager or bet on a stock online? As long as the government’s seizing poker sites, they might as well seize and illegalize online trading too. As long as they’re doing that, they might as well illegalize anyone placing an auction online in hopes of making a profit, so ebay and amazonm should be seized too. In fact, every business tries to make a profit that is involved in the internet should be illegal, actually, why not every business, AND the internet too!
