HEART ATTACK

So I am driving my kids to school this morning and at the light I take an “illegal” look at my streaming quotes on my iPhone. Much to my horror, WNR was trading down $5.53 to $12. My initial reaction was pure, unadulterated, fear. Instantly, I did the math in my head, calculating my losses. They were fucking “clown rape on a Sunday afternoon” heinous. My heralded personal aggressive account, that was up 875% last year, would have “enjoyed” total loss, due to my highly leveraged state.

I turned as pale as my white 10,000 thread Egyptian cotton sheets, then started to think of reasons how this could happen. I raced back to my house, doing about 500mph hour, shooting heat seeking missiles at the fuckers in front of me. I parked the car, ran upstairs, despite my wife giving me shit about “acting all barbarian like.” Then I read it was all a big fucking joke, a sick mistake of sorts. The stock wasn’t down huge, but up a smidge.

Essentially, “The Fly” wins again, despite early concerns of a total and complete wipe out. That’s how I roll.

NOTE: This shit doesn’t stop me from investing like a space alien magician. I’m not the type of person that puts credence into bullshit experiences like this, saying “OMG, that could have happened, let me be more careful.” Quite the contrary. I view it was nothing more or less than a bone headed error, not worthy of my time, but most definitely yours.

Back to my rocket ship, doing light speed past your bullshit house.

Poor H5-0, screwed by an ill timed M&A on a stock that should have been on the receiving end of a buyout.

On the other hand, if I were an WNR executive (they own 40% of the O/S) and I knew the short position and I knew I was going to blow out earnings, then I would want to keep the blowout earnings quiet until 5/5 to maximize the squeeze effect. I want them to have to buy it back in one day, rather than the opportunity to spread the buy out over the next 18 days.

All weekend long a particular stock I own which closed at 8.33 showed a price of 35.00 up 327% on the CNBC app. I even took a screenshot picture with my iphone. I was calculating all of the fine wine I could purchase with such an open on Monday morning.

Taking a pic of that kinda stuff helps later on, it reminds you of the 10 minutes of horror you must have experienced. Just hit home key with the top button, save that moment for another day when your banking all sorts of coin.

I had an opposite story… SQM was trading at 51 bucks and the pre-market screen was showing it at 59.

Ha! I feel your pain! A couple of years ago I was way long UAUA (now UAL) and google news came up with a story of a chap 11 filing by UAL. The stock dropped huge and I was looking at a near 7 figure loss in 5 minutes. Turns out it was an old story from a few years earlier when they did file chap. 11. I turned up the volume on CNBC and was frantic because I couldn’t find any new news about the debacle on the internet or TV. Then poof it was all back. That’s the problem driving cars full of dynamite at 100 mph into the sun. Of course it is a lot of fun.

Fly, On the other post. Yes, China lies about all their data and leak it like crazy. But their data moves stuff. It’s all a Soap Opera which nothing is really that true…including so much of our own US data.

        Oh come on Bully,

Don’t tell me you believe that CPI is reasonably calculated, that its reasonable to have Fanny and Freddie off the balance sheet, that “unemployment” is 8% when 13% are in soup lines (food stamps), that we are bombing Libya to help the people there, etc.. I lean bullish too (probably not as far as you), but I certainly don’t believe everything I hear. And in China, people still disappear for questioning official statistics and policies. I made 40% on a stock once, where a Chinese newspaper announced the sale of a Canadian oil jr. at $10/share, while here it was still trading for $6. I was skeptical, but thought “can’t hurt”. 6 weeks later it happened. There IS a lot of data manipulation, lies, leaks, and deceptions in China.
