Lots of Chinese Business Men made a lot of money playing this game as Steel Traders, etc……but all of this is not real demand. Now, China Govt is REALLY trying to cut out all of those loans, the Traders are getting loans off their physical holdings of the Commodities on a short term, 90 day or so loans..but liquidity in China is drying up..and like a wave pulling away will expose that only 1/3 of the commodities purchased over the last few years were used for actual demand, That Demand included the World Expo and a historical Housing Boom. OK China Govt is building some Dams, Airports and low cost housing, HOW? can we say that will equal the last several years? But, everyone points out that Ben B/Fed will continue this trade everytime the market looks weak, end of story. This is putting or already has put our nation in a finacial position that our Debt/Bonds are Junk and our Fed seems to be the only buyers. So what is that Magical Straw that breaks all of this? As for things missing in the analysis, you might consider checking Modern Monetary Theory. It’ll explain why US debt/t-bills are not junk at all and why the Fed is the only buyer.
The Magical Straw that will break all this will be further growth in employment, increased consumption, demand-driven inflation, and consequential rate hikes.
