You can’t please everyone and really why would you want to? People are a fickle bag of emotions. And more often than not they’re harboring underlying resentment towards their own lifestyles and in scenarios such as that the best reaction is no reaction. Perhaps it’s not the insult itself which offends you but the context surrounding it. It really puts the nature of the remark into perspective and it’s amazing how quickly your initial affronted reaction can quickly dissipate, only to be replaced by a thought which is refreshing as it is clarifying: they’re not you and they never will be.

Market correlations are for suckers. To suck people in to losing positions. If this sector does this, than the market has to do that. Just superstitions. Sometimes true for a while, and that is how they start, but to depend on them continuing is folly.

Market correlations do occasionally go on for years and then they stop. Many of them only go on for months and then they stop, sometimes forever. In the case of the Q’s and the Sox, they will proabably correlate again eventually. And the banks and the S&P also. But you can’t trade off of that, is my point. Even things that are going to correlate most of the time may stop correlating for months, before they get back in sync. You have to be a really long term investor to successfully trade off of that correlation.
Crack spreads continue to increase, and fly continues to bank coin.

As a trained psychotherapist, I can tell you, communication is so complex that it is not at all surprising that people misunderstand one another. What is surprising is that we ever manage to communicate successfully at all.
Especially on the Internet, where there is no voice tone, facial expression, body language etc. We make up the voice tones when we read stuff posted on the Internet. Listen to yourself do it some time.
The voice tone I make up for Fly usually is carefree, wild, curious and exploratory, and occasionally momentarily irritated– serious about the study of the markets but just having fun with everything else.
But if a person were to make up a voice tone of hatred there– maybe carrying it over because of dealing with that voice tone from people in one’s own real life situations– Fly’s posts would sound totally different to that person.
