Mr. Greenberg aka “The Grinch”
Okay, this has been irking me all day long, ever since I saw, much to my chagrin, this fucking retard spew bullshit on CNBC this afternoon, regarding OPEN. Look, if you want to talk shit about OPEN, say its p/s or FPE ratios are out of whack, just like the perpetual short CRM/AMZN crowd have been whining about for, oh I don’t know, 300% of upside now. But DO NOT go on the teevee and disseminate lies.
Brad Safalow, fucktard who writes for none other SEEKING MOTHERFUCKING ALPHA, as well as his own hovel Please Act Accordingly.com, claims Yelp and Urbanspoon are ardent and hard charging competitors to Opentable. Really? Are you sure about that pal?
Dated 6/3/2010 on Yelp’s blog:
If you’ve followed this blog long enough, you know that many of our product features are driven by user feedback. You probably also know that restaurants make up around 29% of the reviewed businesses on Yelp.
What you didn’t know is we’ve been hard at work integrating OpenTable into Yelp so our users can book reservations with ease. One click and BAM! It’s that easy. Logged in Yelp users are now able to easily book a reservation using this feature and you don’t need to have an OpenTable account. Already have an OpenTable account? Groovy! If you used the same email account to set up your Yelp and OpenTable accounts – you’ll automatically receive credit to your OpenTable account, for your reservation — no need to log into both sites. We’ve got your back.
You fucking imbecile, Yelp is a partner of OPEN‘s. And, to top it off, the only relevant website that could ever threaten OPEN‘s dominance, Tripadvisor.com, have a partnership as well. He claims two other absurdities, during Herb “The Short Sellers Favorite Conduit” Greenberg’s softball interview, such as Urbanspoon being a competitor and get this: PEOPLE REVERTING BACK TO THE OLD FASHIONED WAY OF BOOKING RESERVATIONS, VIA CALLING THE RESTAURANT!!!!!
You cannot make this shit up. That’s like saying the internet is a fad or electricity will soon give way to the pleasures of wax candles.
First of all, people aren’t going back to the “old ways” Brad. And, lastly, Urbanspoon has booked just 50,000 seats, from a grand total of 150 eateries, since inception. That’s like comparing Joe’s Corner Coffee Shoppe to Starbux. Perhaps you should take a gander at OPEN‘s latest milestone, dated yesterday:
OpenTable seats 200 millionth diner; diners have spent approximately $8 billion at partner restaurant (85.21 )Co announcs that it seated its 200 millionth cumulative diner during the first quarter. Diners seated via online reservations through OpenTable have now spent an estimated $8 billion at partner restaurants.
What if the vast majority of Americans can no longer afford internet by 2012? Will OPEN begin accepting reservations via post?
Love to see the asshat awards are back!
it took me a while learning how to trade not buy into these guys that are on the internet being paid to take down stocks by writting inaccurate statements about a stock. Their classified as stock terrorist I guess.
Is it bad that when british people speak, I just hear white noise? I could not tell you what those two on the right were saying, and I just watched the video.
Very compelling, La Mosca. There’s gotta be a gigantic % of the population that doesn’t know anything about it yet either.
OPEN has just 7% market penetration.
Cause partners never broke ties and became rivals??
Not happening
Fly. What took you so long?
Herb is a dumbass. Well deserving ass hat award.
Herb won this distinction back in 2007. A repeat winner, if you will.

Omg – did he really talk shit about Apple? Too funny. Probably said something like, “who’s gonna spend $500 on a phone when the Motorola Razor is just $100”.
It’s painful to watch his breaking news stories… Its like watching Elmer Fudd do a newscast.
I love how you stuck a contact link on that 2007 post!
What happened to him? He was a good writer when he was with the SF Chronicle years ago.
Thus = an absurd amount of upside
The only CNBC “analyst” I pay attention to is David Faber.
That is probably a fair assessment. As an aside I “enjoy” commentary from most of the other traders excepting, of course, the hostette, Melissa Harvard. After all, it’s show business for the great populace aching to be in the game, albeit only vicariously.
His half hour at noon is the only thing worth tuning in for…although he also always seems to have a bearish angle.
The Asshats are BACK! Safalow is a dipshit. Seriously, if he made a claim that the overall market is overbought and high betas are gunna get whacked, I might listen. This is just another reason to buy (on market strength).
Can any old swinging dick make reservations at le bernardin now? How does OPEN work with restaurants that want to be more exclusive?
*insert like button*
*click*
I foresee many chef’s table dining experiences at 3 michelin star restaurants thanks to OPEN $100.
Wow, for only $10,635 more a year I can ditch the PPT subscription and get some really valuable information as a “gold member” with Please Act Accordingly research…
Whats gonna happen when 80% of the people in this country can no longer afford to go to dinner because they have to spend $100 every time they fill their gas tank?
Cannibalism.
This is what’s gonna happen:
(1) Fat starving nation starts using bicycles.
(2) Fat starving nation gets leaner.
(3) Lean nation on bicycles is… thinking… almost there… no! you must be kidding me!! no way!!!
OMG!!!
I’S CHINA!!!!!
What to do with the profits to come from OPEN?
What would Mubarak do???

Senator Cementhead says… “Stay the Course!”
_______________
It’s great when Fly gets all long-term-buy-and-holdish….maybe we should call him Peter Lynch.
It’s more like “pounding the table”-ish.
I am going to commission PPP Wood to do a back-study on Fly’s pound the table picks (PTP’s) performance after he gets out of them.
Some of my biggest winners in 2010 were (and to some exent still are in 2011) CMI, ENTR and FTK.
________
Well, I’m just glad to see a good, solid, asshat again – about freakin’ time. That’s what happens when we gets caught up making all this money, we lose sight of the little things that enrich our lives and bring order to the chaos.
Fly, when I grow up I want to generate alpha like you
you’re like a father figure to me.
can you teach us about EPS and Market Cap someday? thx
Here’s lesson one on EPS, no tuition charge:
1) EPS is bullshit.

Nice work, Señor T. 8)

yipee.. The asshat of the week has returned.
Seems to me MSM out to get the blogging community, especially those that are successful (IBC).
MSM is losing credibility and viewership and its their way at lashing out.
When has Hank ever really been right?
I think it would be great if Fly gave out an asshat of the week award on a regular basis to bloggers here.
Then you could attach them to your username like a military service stripe, or one of those decals they put on college football helmets.
People would wear them like a badge of honor.
Good idea.
I would need a second helmet. Perhaps one of those Kaiser jobs.
__________
I like it too!
“The Majority Expects a Stronger Than Expected Jobs Number”. Now how asshattish is that?
Time for higher Fed rates and withdrawal of the market narcotic of QE in the near future.
Since the market is a discounting mechanism of 6 months or so, it might be prudent to practice safe trading.
This assumes there are prudent fund managers.
Does this mean don’t wait for June?
Time to sprinkle some Adonis DNA all over this market..
My, that silver sell-off was simply devastating wasn’t it?
___________
thats funny.maybe” herb unsuperb”, didnt see what open did after hours yestady.he talked the same shit about yoku right out of the gate, look where that thing is now. there ought to be a law against idiots like that who just spew opinions as facts in order to change peoples perceptions on stocks.
Best post of the week senor.

If Kuwait, Saudi, and Bahrain have supply disruptions, or threats of disruptions, oil will rocket higher. Oil is likely a good swing trade over the next 2 weeks (as Kuwait has demonstrations planned for March 8, Saudi for March 11, and Bahrain, Libya, Iran, and others are already smacking down growing decent.
Boldness emboldens a lot of the marginally upset.
Growing decent what?
Pot?

it makes me happy that the fly is losing money!
