The US is getting back on it’s feet. You may not like it, but that’s the facts. Unemployment is going to stay high for a while because the fuckers that were laid off or at least the large rump of them were involved in the building industry and its ancillaries. That isn’t coming back soon hence the high level of jobless.
The economy is going to grow at a decent clip this year, so stop whining.
As for the deficit. It could be fixed tomorrow. There’s a startling amount of fat in the US budget and you could cut $800 billion without raising a sweat.

Yes the US is a rich country, but its population is getting poorer and poorer. As long as unemployment stays high (which it will for a long, long time), there will be no real recovery.

Would never work today. First of all, we have mechanization. We don’t need people to do things that machines can do much better and cheaper.
Second of all, the population is out of shape. We don’t have enough people who are in the right physical condition to do the work.
