I’ve got to tell you dude, your creativity has no bounds. You need to leave this senseless game of printing money which you have mastered and go to Hollywood and unleash your creativity there for higher good. I am not joking!
Did the ship happen to have the 12631 number on it or did you somehow electronically put it there?

Dude, that’s a Jeremy product, and he’s very much a creative little geek.

No chance of Hollywood, however, til his Mom takes that lock off the basement door.

Rumored to be a possibility come early August, I’m hearing….

Ever wonder why the tards talk about “head ‘n shoulders” when the last 2 market major turns exhibit no such thing? The 2007 high and the March low display no H&S crap, yet it persists……in the minds of the tards.

The PPT is a great short-term overbought-oversold oscillator, but clearly, overbought can get a lot MORE overbought, as evidenced by the readings on that chart on the ride up from early March to mid-April. The center section of that run is quite interesting, as it was framed by a 3.12 reading on both ends, and yet the second reading was at much higher price levels. Clearly, the fact that it was a bit of a “stairstep” pattern is the explanation, as the market was allowed to work off its overbought condition by going nowhere for a couple of days between each big lurch upwards. The lesson, of course, is that despite the current high PPT level the market may not go down from here, and instead could repeat that “up, flat, up, flat, up, flat” pattern for a while. That said, seeing how short I am, I’d much rather see it over 3 than under it.

The PPT looks like it at a point that the market is overbought, or approaching overbought conditions…
That’s what I see. If the market continues to do what it’s been doing, it looks like over the next several months we will be testing more new low’s.

    Gentlemen,

Expect the market to go up and challenge old highs. Expect some decent economic numbers (e.g. not getting worse). Expect the unexpected.

We don’t have to have rip-roaring growth to see the market rechallenge 1200.

I told you I am reformed. See the PPT forums for my current strategy and approach.

Also, I played the market like a fiddle this week in my discretionary portion. Lotta luck though — was short into Bernanke, and went long as soon as the market plummeted.

I pulled in 3%….but I was only invested maybe 30% and 25% of that was TLT.

            Go figure.

Anyway, like i said, I am reformed. Being burned head to toe in crude oil has forever scarred me….the only question is, has it turned my from a pyro into some sort of overly phobic risk averse shmuck.

            Only time will tell…

Between October 2008 and July 2009 the reverse head and shoulders pattern in the S&P was centered around the intraday low of 666.76 in the S&P. By April of 2010, the S&P reached 1217, an almost 100% gain in the S&P. I’ve found it to be a fairly useful and profitable when used during times of extreme volatility to obtain 100% to 200% gains in a matter of months.

For day traders, the reverse head and shoulders of the market, coupled with political winds, would have been a useful tool to get an idea of the general trend for the coming months. But, most day traders could have probably let their money sit in the S&P from March 2009 to April 2010 and make more money than they did day trading.

        That’s exactly what I did.

    PPT signals on TNA.
Overall Techncal Hybrid score is a 3.47 and a buy recomendation,
with Friday’s action showing a bounce off the 50 MA according to PPT chart
and the 200 looming above it in the 46 range.
What would the “distinguished gentlemen” of the PPT do with TNA if you didn’t already own some?

flyaway – I never do TA on leveraged ETF’s. It makes no sense. You would have to account for the volatility/compounding. Only do TA on the underlying, then trade the levered product. Your mileage may vary. I’m currently using PPT signals to trade 3X ETF’s.

I sold my TNA on Friday. FWIW, currently have LT longs, TBT, PM’s, and no hedges.

Thats a great question. Overbought makes more sense at extreme levels….we are not at an extreme level.

Overbought on a price extension = no brainer

Oversold on a new low = no brainer

Hybrid overbought ata market fulcrum point that coudl gho either way? well, probably good enough to hedge or lighten a bit, but I wouldnt short it.

The market has a bias to the upside. Shorting an overbought market never works as well as buying an oversold market.
However, shorting an overbought market when it is trading beneath the 200 day moving average improves your odds. Add in higher than normal volatility and the shorting an overbought market gets even better.

Just had a conversation with my sweet daughter who is apparently a real New Yorker now.
She was waiting for a cab outside her apartment when two guys tried to jump ahead of her.
She jumped in and shut the door on them as they yelled “You Bitch.”
She locked the door, flipped them off, and yelled ” I was here first.”
She was a nice person when she left here for life in NYC.

    jjjsix6-

I say this in a friendly way, but 400 percent from a five figure account (now six figure) means you will likely blow up your account, unless you continue to be lucky, or have a rare gift of trading ability. If you have that gift, there is no need to take so much risk.

You might want to consider backing off on the risk, to keep your profits.

In general (not directed at you jjjsix6), I think a better than average trader does not need to take big risks (options, trading too big for account, etc) since they will profit handsomely with low risk behavior. Yet many who take big risks believe they are better than average or are hoping to be lucky a dozen times in a row.

I’ve been lucky as many as nine times in a row, and then BAM! There goes 50 percent. Blow up risk is the problem with swinging big and loose.

      MX2101,

Warning acknowledge. I’ve always been a big risk taker and have regrettably experienced a sever implosion of my account to Zero several times. My appetite for risk has been greatly reduced over the last 5 yrs. I now make it a point to take 10% of my profits from each sale and apply to my mortgage. If my current precautions were to fail, I can at least say every dime I’ve ever added to my stock trading account has since been pulled out such that I’m now playing with the houses money. I also have a 401K which I handle extremely conservatively.

      Thanks

Hedge funds must make some money or go out of business – I have never heard of one that uses”charts” or “chart patterns”. There are hedge funds that employ dozens of phDs in mathematics and physics and computer science. Who else could research charts and chart patterns better and come up with results? I am not talking about their use of algorithms and computers – I am talking about the chart pattern stuff even though I recently read one “chartist” admit it is more “art” than science. LOOK! It’s an expanding trumpet! NO! It’s a cascading flag! BS.

Jack, I agree. I know several people that only use charts as their guide… Seems like they are wrong 7 out of 10 times.

Basic charting as a guide does work (mda’s etc), but crazy constellation shaped charts are no good to anyone.

The market is all about sentiment, fundamentals and growth trends.

In my opinion of course 🙂
