Over 60% of bear market funds have turned the corner and are back in black (RS-wise). Two weeks ago it was less than 10%. A MAJOR bottom to this mess won’t be in until at least over 95% of them are outperforming short duration bonds YTD—then the bottoming process will begin. This is from past observation, so by all means take it with a grain of salt.

Shanghai Metal Futures are down at this point, but not as much as earlier. Asia is still down even with the fun and games. IMHO we are shaking out shorts to give us a nice space to be knocked down tomorrow. Also, Europe has to deal with Econ data German Ifo and German GDP and PMI that could really bum people out? ……………………………Question to you pros………….like everyone already knew the legislation would pass, won’t that just be an amature hour pop and then vroom vroom car coming??

Some of you may not have been trading back in 1998, but I have some not-so-fond memories of that Asian contagion / Russian ruble mess. The markets were so arbitrary and random, that it was tough to get a handle on the direction of anything. This market reminds me of 1998. It’s no place for amateurs—-or even pros, for that matter! The market took a 22% hit from July to October 1998. There’s more at stake now, financially and politically.
Cash is king….or in the Fly’s case, VXX is king.
I remember ’98 like it was yesterday, with my CEO (at the IB I was employed at the time) running through the halls, panicking over ABSURD margin calls at 11am.

If I had to rough out a scenario for the remainder of 2010, I would figure the current events to be another meltdown/panic sell/ shakeout to 9,000, then a moon shot back up to over 11,000 Dow.

Tonight I will be having boiled Goose Eggs, for that is all i can now afford. All my gains for the year have been wiped out by the action in crude over the last two weeks. How I lost gains of 85% acquired over 4 months in just 3 days still baffles me.
I have only three things to say at this point:
1. My wife is the proud owner of FTK, though she doesn’t know it. I see it has collapsed, taking her account with her. Do i liquidate or ride it out at this point?
2. I have turned over all my future trading to the DecisionMoose. http://www.decisionmoose.com I am embarrassed that a moose is going to be making my investment decisions now, but I think he is wiser than I.
3. I liked the 40-points per day market much more than this market
