Ate a Sandwich Instead

I have the staying power of a fucking horse on large doses of viagra. I got over my morning hissy fit and decided to “stay the course,” vis a vis not selling out of [[TLT]] . The way I figure, I’ve traveled all this way to see a giant elephant jump off a diving board into a swimming pool, sans the water. God dammit, I will see that elephant massacre himself if it’s the last thing I do! Or, maybe I will just forget about the elephant and go hunting for gay giraffes.

I decided to shuffle the deck chairs instead, via selling out of General Cable Corporation [[BGC]] and Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. [[BRCD]] —both at a profit. And, adding to Flotek Industries, Inc. [[FTK]] and TriQuint Semiconductor [[TQNT]] positions, while initiating a new one in Johnson Controls, Inc. [[JCI]] .

Today was a “fanfabulous” day, with stocks skinning bears alive and climbing to new nonsensical levels. It’s worth noting, however, [[SRS]] behaved rather well, which is why I decided to keep it for another day or three. Let’s call it like it is, we’re all guessers, some guess better than others. You have your idiot charts, while I have my EPS estimates and robotic algorithms. At the end of the day, we are all subject to the whims and personality disorders of people like Bob Doll and Bill Gross.

As long as TLT holds 88.50, reverse bullish 60 min head and shoulders is intact.

FXY is holding up well. We only need a bounce in VXX or UUP to keep TLT from dropping further.

The yen is seriously underestimated here. When IYR nosedives, the lowest interest rate currencies will advance the fastest. Yen rally is in the bag.

Yet, the “fast money crew” will be quite surprised. Here is an advanced cgi simulation of their reaction

I demand a short squeeze in $FTK due to its chemical division ON PRINCIPLE. I also bought some into the bell.

Excellent fucking choice. If you had changed your mind now it would have been the worst possible decision.

Better to stay the course and be wrong.

You would never, ever be able to live with yourself if you jumped in and started buying hand over fist, only to see the market sell off because China has a surprise tightening, or some other such hyjinx.

You need to see this one through to the end….win or lose.

Yeah, that’s real solid advice. Thanks for enlightening us on the ways of the ego.

          wrong

          its not a joke

the man is not short, he is more market neutral, or maybe long but overly hedged. To throw that by the wayside at this point, and jump in with both hands AT THIS PARTICULAR MOMENT, would seem foolish to me. Obviously, if he were short, it would be all about reversing course as quickly as possible.

But he’s not, and my advice stands. If he wants to get long, best off to wait.

Sure, that may prove to be bad advice. But i personally could live with that MUCH BETTER than chasing this melt up only to see it explode in your face.

When you are up 60% one year and 90% the next, being 30% long is like being fully invested 3 years ago! that’s all you need to kick every ass on the internets.

This just in – late Wednesday:
Sales of PCs jumped 24% in the first quarter of 2010, as strong demand from both consumers and businesses boosted sales across the sector, according to a report from IDC released late Wednesday.

The results beat out the 15% growth seen in the fourth quarter and contrasted sharply to a sluggish first quarter of last year, when the recession battered the industry and produced a sales decline

        And here is the irony.
The consumer may be spending money that they have accumulated by not paying their mortgage.
Wacky, I know, but certainly possible.

United Parcel Service (UPS) reported blowout earnings for the first quarter almost two weeks ahead of schedule on Wednesday evening. In the Pre-Announcement press release, the company said they had expected this quarter to be challenging as the economic recovery gains steam. Instead, profits hurdled 37% higher thanks to better international volume and operational efficiencies. Earnings per share came in at $.71 per share; 19 cents better than last year and 13 cents higher than Wall Street expected. The world’s largest package delivery company is generally regarded as an economic bellwether, as its service touches so many different sectors of the economy. If this report is any indication, the first quarter may be even stronger than expected.
