Life Could Be Worse
As I sit here this morning, bedazzled, by the audacity of Flotek Industries, Inc. (FTK: 1.37 0.00%) management and their ability to blame their short comings on “the economy,” I am reminded of a man named BIN RU KAI (most definitely the wrong spelling). A long time ago, when I was starting out in the business, BIN RU KAI sat three rows ahead of me and he was a very stupid man.
Everyday, while the market was climbing to new heights, BIN would call his moronic clients and ask for 100 share orders. Then, every single God damned day, he’d eat food of the grotesque kind, that consisted of steamed vegetables and hard boiled eggs. BIN RU KAI wore Chinese delivery man clothes to work and had a foul smell about him. And to top it all off, BIN RU KAI was a f****** a******. He’d mouth off to everyone, not even knowing the words that were coming from his mouth. Then he’d get back on the phone and ask for another $3,000 trade.
As time went on, people around BIN were getting rich as hell, due to the dot com bubble. Complete imbeciles were landing million dollar trades, while BIN RU KAI dropped 100 share orders of $10 stocks, while eating oversized bowls filled with steamed broccoli and hard boiled eggs. Soon enough, BIN RU KAI was fired and never heard from again; but his legend lives on.
The moral of this story is: quit being BIN RU KAI and stop thinking so damn small. The monstrous people from Flotek Industries, Inc. (FTK: 1.37 0.00%) have the BIN RU KAI syndrome and they should all be fired for it.
As for you little people, with regards to this market: go long young man, for the skin of the bears are about to be peeled off, yet again.

In anticipation of the flogging many of you will attempt to lay on Fly, due to this FTK situation, I challenge you to man up and list your major holdings, before you begin to chastise.
It’s quite alright, part of the territory.

FTK is a loser and should have been sold long ago, no bashing of the Fly required.
As for positions I have X, ATI, C, DRYS, FWLT, APWR, ACI, BPO in the US and RY, BNS, GWO, MFC, PWF, SLF, SJR in Canada.
FTK bashing on the other hand is most required.
As I sat in a near empty steakhouse last night dining on egregious amounts of Filet and fine wine, I thought to myself “Thank god for the Fly and all of his bullishness, I have ignored the economy, gone seriously long, and banked stacks of coin” Yet the restaurant which would normally be at least a 30 minute wait, had maybe 10 tables total the entire time we were there. So maybe Flotek is correct is saying “it is the economy”. Does Flotek make steak sauce? Cause consumption was down yesterday for sure…

Lets stop looking at FTK as a loss. Where does it stand now? Is it starting to look like a buy? The floor seems to be about a dollar with a better upside potential. Is the PPT showing the same thing?

The decision for each of you regarding FTK has to depend on what you are looking for and the time frame. It could sink a little lower. However, at this level the upside is much more likely. When it will reach the upside is another question altogether. It needs a positive catalyst of some sort. The potential catalysts are new or renewed orders, the next earnings report, M & A, etc. None of those appear to be imminent, but those things hardly ever are obvious before they are announced. In other words, in the next few weeks it may melt up slowly back to the 1.50 to 1.65 range, but the double/triple from current location may be months off. I doubled down at 1.24 and am prepared to wait six months to a year to see it really pay off. If you need immediate gratification from stocks . . . . well, . . you probably deal with a lot of disappointment.
