Beware of the $100 Tomato

Before I leave, I want to share a few thoughts, regarding the recent run in commodities. Despite tepid demand, commodity prices keep going higher, with sugar at 26 years highs and copper at an egregious 10 month peak. Oil is above $70, despite a severe global downturn, which begs the question: is somebody trying to sell me a $100 tomato?

Look at this fuckery:

historygif

It’s almost as if, THE POWERS THAT BE, got sidetracked by some bullshit credit crisis. Frantically, they worked to eliminate the risk to the system, in order to sell me a $100 tomato. I will say this: “The Fly” will take your $100 tomato and smash it in your face. He will siphon gasoline from police cars and dump it into the Harlem River, while on one of his “late night drives.”

From Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. [[FCX]] to Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. [[ANR]] to United States Steel Corporation [[X]] to The Mosaic Company [[MOS]] , we are in the midst of another commodity bull run. If you say it’s because of China, I will knock your mustache off.

It has nothing to do with China, dipshits.

All I have to say, in closing: beware of the $100 tomato, for you will not be eating it. Instead, it will be eating you.

Goodnight (crazy man unable to discern the correct time of day send off).

As long as the $100 tomatoes are chopped and placed on $200 hot dogs all is well in the world 🙂

I’ll just keep growing my own tomatoes, in the hopes of selling for $100.

Oil is continuing it’s uptrend, but will be testing the lower trend-line soon:

That $65 level will be very interesting.

Larry Kudlow says his green shoots and mustard seeds point to rising global demand for $100 tomatoes.

Could of just been the coke talking.

If its not China then what is it?

The world population is about to hit 7Billion.

Prices move so fast, so much money floating around that I think these commodities are being fucked with by money and not actual demand.

As though they are pumping up the prices to ridiculous levels so they can cash out before it drops again with a different set of “bag holders” type deal? That’s what I got from this most cryptic and timely message.

Jesus Fly… I feel like I’m watching a 1960’s episode of Batman where Batman and Boy Wonder are deciphering another veiled riddle from that dastardly character the Riddler. $100 tomato? Are you saying that the commodities are due for a large pullback? Speak English for Pete’s sake.

    thx

$100 tomatoes coming to a pizza parlor near you:

US: Blight continues to spread throughout Connecticut tomato farms

It’s hideous. Everywhere I go I see dead or dying tomato plants. My 2 dozen plants are so far untouched (started from seed & all organic). I doubt I’ll escape though. Any excess will be auctioned on eBay with bids starting at $75.00 per lb plus overnight shipping.

Remember, like Horatio said yesterday… Enjoy that BLT while you can. Carry on.

Don’t forget there will also be a tax on all red tomatoes. Anything that is not green will be taxed based on current carbon credit prices.

    Yes it’s a real word!
Inflation bitches. It’s creaping, like like those nearly imperceptable insideous hairline cracks on the walls of your stucco palace. Don’t belive [sic] the liars @ the USSA.gov.

I’m going to extrapolate inflation for the entire nation based upon nothing more than the price changes of a large basket of goods from a single store. The Dollar Store, of all places – none of you Rolex-wearers would be seen in there –
1 Box of kitchen trash bags:
    New price: $1.00
    Old price: $1.00
    New #/box: 13
    Old #/box: 14
    1 jar of olives:
    New price: $1.00
    Old price: $1.00
    New oz / jar: 3.7oz
Old oz / jar: 4.7 (guesstimate)
PS Short watchmakers, eventually. They’ll be as quant as film cameras.

Didn’t anybody tell you that less is more? The only things deflating are wages, real estate and other select big ticket items like TVs, computers and cars. I haven’t bought any of these in 5 years. It is time for a new computer, but I can put that off indefinitely.

Insurance cost of any sort is increasing.
      Tuition cost is increasing.
      Healthcare cost is inreasing.
Most food products/staples costs are increasing, albeit cleverly hidden through smaller amounts at the same price as demonstrated by Anecdotic.

You’ll be on your knees begging for a real tomato.

Sewage is going to be re-routed to your faucet taking life expectancy back down to about forty years. The air has mycoplasma parasites sprayed at high altitudes (which caused gulf war syndrome) and is causing the bees to die off. Genetically modified/patented plants and animals have their clocks ticking out. In December 2009 the UN will pass an international law to phase out critical nutrients but expand previously FDA banned toxins in order to import/export genetically patented food leading to malnutrition and new plagues. The public debates on euthanasia will become more a discussion of how to implement the inevitable, rather than whether it is moral or not.

The UN troops brought in to shovel up the bodies might toss you a genetically patented tomato devoid of any nutritional value at all. If you have $100.

I’m optimistic that when it’s darkest, the men of compassion become the shining stars. It’s so easy to for some to behave like a reptile. In fact, I’d dare say it’s a significant sign of weakness. The real American heroes will step up and take the high road, but it won’t be an easy climb.
