It’s Not a Game Anymore

Ladies and Losers,

I am here to present a solution to the current credit crisis, via large institutional sponsored short squeezes, which will effectively “bake the balls” of all remaining short sellers—putting them into thin layered pine boxes. Quite frankly, it is not enough to see them wandering the streets of Manhattan, at all odd hours of the night, picking out sandwiches from the garbage cans.

If I may propose, I’d like to run over such said miscreants, with oversized sanitation trucks, then toss them into portable lit fireplaces—for proper burial of course.

Now many of you, my kind, benevolent readership, find yourselves in the back of a jam sandwich, short stocks into criminal balance sheet games. I beg of you to keep pursuing this course of action, for you make excellent tinder inside of my inferno funhouse.

Without further delay, I gift you 10 short squeeze ideas, all courtesy and praise go to the magnanimous gentlemen of The PPT for providing the data.

[[GPI]], [[TSL]], [[BKS]], [[CSR]], [[BUCY]], [[SFI]], [[TRLG]], [[WNR]], [[JASO]], [[CRM]].

In addition, here is a list of possible takeover tech stocks, considering the M&A market is perking up a bit.

[[ATHR]], [[ARUN]], [[COGT]], [[DRIV]], [[SNPS]], [[WFR]], [[TTWO]] and [[NTGR]]

NOTE: Unlike some of my iBC colleagues, I implore you to ignore the SEC and let them set ruling upon the short sellers. It makes for a funner market. Thanks!

Lap it up, proletariat. These are just table scraps from the godly round table within the PPT.

In other news, my weekly gains are egregious.

  3. arnoldsimage says:

possible takeovers? you know better than that.

  4. MWD says:

    How about PNRA?

  5. The Fly says:

Yes, possible takeover, based upon strong balance sheets. That has been the common denominator of all recent mergers.

  6. Raj says:

    Hey-
on PPT i dont see any data for top rank stocks..any issues with the website?

  7. Raj says:

    Thanks!! it works now

Watch the M&A space on the resources front. The RIO shareholders are as pissed as all fuck over the RIO board’s latest antics of getting into bed with the Chinese and giving the company away, buying Alcan at the top and spurning BHP’s tilt.

I’m taking a rough shot that BHP may try another tilt at them. This time the instos are begging them to.

  9. A broken rubber ruiend my life says:

lol, “short squeeze” plays… That is for fags (no offence). How about some real companies with a future that trade well too?

Try GD,SPN,TSYS,WBSN and one little pig – JBL.

Talking my book so sue me or make money, your choice.

Re SEC; absolutely. why waste your keystrokes. what will be done, will be done, and done by idiots driving large suvs around town in search of the cheapest gas while sexting lee raymond. Re bounty; if said bounty is more the ‘buried under the Caribbean seafloor’ type as opposed to the the ‘overly-caffienated teen marketed soda type’ i will oblige delivery. the soda(er) you can keep, all due respect.

  17. Buckeye Bob says:

Tonight’s useless fact, LIBOR is back down. Why wouldn’t LIBOR be down, governments all over the world are backing banks, risk of outright bank failures is now low. LIBOR should be now be LIGOR.

Juice, dude, did you not see that I have almost an entire post dedicated to Ben Dover’s letter? Sheesh….

    Shed,

By now, Im sure everyone is aware of VNO and their offering they came out with last night.

My advice: Buy the dip in the morning because it could finish up big. The short intrest is huge and just look what SPG and other REITS did after similar offerings.

They ramped for days and the shorts got played.

    Enjoy

I couldn’t agree more. The retail sector is very “hit or miss”. People ARE buying select things…a Blackberry is a good example. But you are right, the strong can’t carry the weak and these pockets of strength will be exposed for what they are…the exception not the rule. CRE is going to get pounded which is old news, I know. We, as a nation, are going to pay dearly for our “must have it RIGHT now” mentality. I know HELOCs have been reigned in by banks, but wait until credit card companies start cutting max limits in half in order to reduce risk. Johnny Sixpack will be intercoursed 10 ways to Sunday. Retail is going down….
    ———————————

Got a letter from B of A yesterday…credit cut from $35K to $15K on a card that I don’t use often and have had for over 16 years…just saying.

  27. jingle says:

I also had a credit limit cut on a BofA card. The hilarious thing was they said that they “may” have extended more credit than I need or will be used. Maybe 57k was a bit much.

Then the very next day, I got some more of those cash advance checks so I could spend, spend, spend!

    Duh. Talk about mixed messages.

However, Pete Najarian is a buyer of bigger national banks like JPMorgan [JPM 32.53 --- UNCH (0) ] and Goldman Sachs [GS 120.36 --- UNCH (0) ] , who are the best of breed and will require less, if any government investment. He also points out Morgan Stanley [MS 24.65 --- UNCH (0) ] , who seems paused right now and offers a huge amount of potential on the up side.

And they never have enough $100 bills at branches…Why..order more your a fucking bank shitheads.

  36. kidstock says:

  37. JakeGint says:

Prospectus — I was thinking along similar lines, including the oddity of having a pudgy Italian looking man represent your Texas-Oklahoma based bank, whilst wearing said bee-suit.

You can almost see the conversation in, say, Enid, OK — between Ma and Pa Baker:

Ma: Now honey, which bank izzit ye said ye jest put our money at?

Pa: Whale, sweety, ahm right certain it was that there bank we saw’d on the tay-vee. ‘Member? Tha wan with thet there fat Eyetal in tha bee suit?

    and… Scene!

We’ll have to consult with Donny about this…

solar stocks back up, LDK back up 4% today from 7.08 up to 7.75

  57. ballZ the Bull Impaler says:

Thanks JG. Can anyone give any reasoning as to why this mother market is up today? WFC earnings should’ve been baked in, since they did their preannoucement. Why is that Gold men with sacks up strong today. JPM for that matter.

Trying to post in my blog, but can’t get it open for some reason… probably user error.

To give a preview, it’s about UPS… $56.40 or so is a pretty important level here.

As you know I like to use UPS (a long term hold for reasons not related to the Jacksonian core) as my “tell” on the trannies and on the rest of the market. It’s been going almost straight up since our last bottom, so I think today will be very important.

More on the blog when/if I get that shit open.

  63. PRICERUNNER says:

The market is neutral, neutral, neutral at the start of today. Only a fool shorts during earnings season when the mwrket is neutral and the word is out that the quants are causing short squeeze action. You need to wait for a short term trend up or down to play.

  67. j says:

    Ladies and gents.

The more I think about it and the way the press downunder is reporting things, RIO shareholders are mighty unhappy with the idea that Chinalco is about to buy into the firm through a complex deal that gives them a huge say in the running of the firm. They can’t quite see their way around things when the majority owner of the firm is also is biggest buyer of it output.

I think that they would run into the arms of BHP if they made a bid for them at a reasonable price.

My guess is they would accept a bid of 2.5 times BHP’s stock price in a share exchange. The last bid BHP put on the table was for 3.4 times and since then RIo has done a lot of stupid things like buying Alcan at the top of the market.

There are strong rumors that BHP is arranging credit lines etc though the banking system recently and that these funds could be sued to repay the Alcan debt if RIO changes hands.

My guess is that the bid would come in around 75 bucks a share, or you could short BHP for RIO at 1.7 times now. It may just be worth a punt.

  71. Homo Bob says:

Jay, nice call on GMCR. Their is a ton of short interest to cover in that stock. How do you figure out how far it can run and when to exit?
