It riles me that the excellent economics lessons which we taught the rest of the globe somehow go ignored in favor of innumerate politics and easy demagoguery.
I refuse to believe that the Dems in Congress — with all the information that’s available to them — can be this fucking stupid about basic supply and demand economics and the effects of taxation. Its startling to think that they believe this kind of idiocy will keep them in power for anything but a brief period of time. Do they believe Americans are this stupid?
First lesson– corporate taxation is simply additional consumption tax. Who do you think PAYS corporate taxes?
Second lesson — taxation limits productivity, and it’s opposite (cutting taxes) enhances it. Do we really want to limit our only ally in the search for reasonably priced fuels?
Third lesson — These measures are not proposed with any measure of logical analysis or forethought. They emerge from — and are designed to appeal to — the ignorant public’s most basic instincts of envy and greed.
