XXX TAX DOCUMENTS RELEASED: Mitt Romney’s Net Worth North of $200 Million XXX

Romney’s tax documents are voluminous and extraordinarily complex, and his opponents are sure to comb through them in the coming days. They reflect the far-flung finances of one of the richest men ever to run for president. His 2010 tax return alone runs to 203 pages, crammed with information about foreign holdings, contributions to family trusts — and even a Swiss bank account.

So ridiculous that everyone is simply assuming Mitt is a tax evader just because he is wealthy.

I would not show more than this if I were him.

I wouldn’t show any of it. What the hell business is it of anyone what your financial statement looks like?

I would much rather see Obama’s college transcripts and SAT scores, just like every other candidate released in years past.

For some reason, he’s had a hard time locating that stuff. Maybe he should put David “Unseal the Divorce Records!” Axelrod on the case?

I’d rather see Obama’s documented ties to the Weather Underground terrorist group in Chicago, and his classes teaching Saul Alinsky Fabian socialist provocateur tactics back in the day…

I like that Mitt gives as much to charity as he does to Uncle Sugar. That’s my goal as well.

Judgments aside (I tend to not make them with respect to the virtue’s of one’s effective tax rate, given that taxation isn’t exactly virtuous in the first place, nor is subsidizing the ever encroaching police state), this is going to generate a tremendous amount of negative publicity for Mr. Mittster. You guys already know how his competition (and the MSM) will spin this: he pays a lower effective tax rate than the schmucks stuck in the middle class making an iota of his annual income, and that’s WRONG. Not saying it is, but that’s how this will be perceived. He’ll call for an end to class warfare that will (not so) ironically result in increased class tensions, thereby painting him as a blue blooded plutocrat unable to relate to the plights of the masses.

In reality, everyone should pay his tax rate, including him. I’ve never been a big fan of providing a leg up to those born near the top rung, but to argue that Mitt’s taxes are too low when the average John Q. Taxpayer’s are clearly too high is specious reasoning. I like that Ron Paul speaks to this truth in Mitt’s defense; politicians worthy of the title gentleman are few and far between as always.

Mitt’s paying $3mm in federal taxes and throwing another $3mm to charity.

There should be a cap on how much anyone pays in taxes, total dollar amount. What a great incentive that would be, not to mention a disincentive to Brobdingnagian Gummint.

Doesn’t everyone already know Romney is very wealthy? I think the Romney campaign released the information now because his wealth is probably less of a concern to Flordia voters than other states.

Also- weren’t many of the country’s founding fathers quite wealthy? Not worrying about where the horses’ next shoes were coming from gave them the time to think about, and take action to set up the USA. Fortunately they were pretty smart.
