Hiking rates will actually result in inflation because the interest on the debt will increase and will force increases in the debt limit to pay for it….
That’s why Japan entered deflation as they brought rates lower, and another reason they had a “lost decade” was low rates.
Lower rates results in capital flows out of the country.
